Thyssenkrupp uhde is one of the leading companies for the design and construction of plants for the fertilizer and chemical industryOur product portfolio includes plants for the production of nitric acid and nitratesWe are currently seeking a lead process engineer nitric acid/nitrates, preferably at our houston, tx office, however remote work options within the usa are possible as well.
The lead process engineer nitric acid / nitrates is responsible for the process engineering and design of nitric acid and nitrate plants, with a strong focus on revamps and retrofits of existing plants in north americaThe lead process engineer nitric acid / nitrates will furthermore be responsible for the technical proposal preparation of such projects and assist with commissioning and startup following project execution.
The lead engineer nitric acid / nitrates will report to the head of engineeringThe role will involve close communication with key personnel in engineering, sales and project management as well as our licensing and technology division in germanyRegular travel to customer sites in north america will be requiredInfrequent travel to our licensing and technology division in germany or for international projects may be necessary.
Duties and responsibilities:
Analyze existing nitric acid and nitrates plant operations.
Develop technical concepts together with other engineering disciplines.
Process simulations and optimizations for complete plants, individual process steps and plant equipment.
Prepare material and energy balances, process flow diagrams, p&i diagrams and process engineering design data for the individual components of the plants.
Preparation of technical proposal documents, support sales team in customer meetings.
Technical negotiations with customers and suppliers.
Support commissioning and startup the process plants.
Technical presentations at conferences.
A minimum of 6 years experience in a similar role at an engineering company or nitric acid plant operations.
A bachelors’ degree in chemical, process or mechanical engineering.
Experience with simulation programs such as prosim or aspen plus.
Professional engineering (pe) license, with ability to obtain further pe registrations as business needs arise, continuously maintaining obtained registrations.
Familiar with the fertilizer, nitric acid / nitrates process industry.
Ability to work on multiple project opportunities simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Remote collaboration abilities due to extensive international interactions with technology and engineering centers.
Effectively working with diverse, multi-national, and multi-cultural project teams.
Interact positively with clients, official contacts, project teams, equipment suppliers, contractors, and office staff.
Proficient with the microsoft office suite of products.
Based in the united states.
Experience with prosimplus hno3
Operations or commissioning and start-up experience with nitric acid / nitrate plants
Experience in giving technical presentation at conferences.
Based in or prepared to relocate to houston, tx.
