Job responsibilities
Viasat is looking for an experienced wire harness designer to join our growing teamIn this dynamic role, you will be responsible for all wiring and cables to be installed into the systemYou will create the harness specification to include all information required to define and route all wire and cabling on the system such as a satelliteYour strong communication and organization skills combined with your knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and emi design will serve you well as you create wire lists for the entire system, create assembly drawings, specify connector, and wire types, describe emi requirements related to cabling, and work with manufacturing to ensure a good product is assembled.
Requirements
7+ years of related experience
3d routing in large structures
Proficient knowledge and use of industry standards
Proficient knowledge of electrical schematics
Experience collaborating with other stake holders
Strong communication skills
Associates of science degree in electronics technology or related technical discipline or equivalent work experience
U.sGovernment positionU.sCitizenship required.
Up to 10% domestic travel
Preferences
Wire harness design for space hardware
Experience with rf cabling such as semi-ridged and flex cable.
Experience with high-speed digital cabling
Experience with power supply cabling
Cad tools: solidworks, creo or catia and catia electrical.
Bachelor`s degree
Working knowledge of cable and harness fabrication
Strong understanding of cable requirements for commercial, military and space requirements
