We’re looking for a dwdm optical network engineer to be a key part of a highly visible and business-critical technology team at viasat.

You will be working on the design and architecture of the company’s core network infrastructure to support our expanding global satellite fleetYou will also work on layer 1 through layer 3 network design, capacity planning, and platform management as well as the design of routes for fiber-based networks including point to point, ring, and path diverse routing.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science or computer engineering to design complex optical networksRelatable years of experience okay as well.
8+ years relevant work experience with multi-vendor network equipment to architect complex dwdm systems
Strong experience with written network implementation design plans and troubleshooting system issues
Strong knowledge of 100g coherent technology to build long-haul networks
Experience in automation, networks components, and network management systems
Experience working autonomously and demonstrable experience exercising judgment to coordinate key tasks and activities
Preferences
Experience with the use of fiber network design, planning and mapping software tools such as 3-gis, esri arcgis and qgis
Coding and debugging in java, python, golang, or other modern programming languages.
Experience with continuous integration & delivery and devops methodologies
Operational experience working with major carriers
An understanding of outside plant construction requirements with fiber experience preferred
Ip and ethernet networking experience
