The desktop support technician is responsible for providing technical support and expertise, with the highest degree of customer service, to all ventura foods employeesThe desktop support technician, works under the direction of senior members of the team to resolve tickets, both remotely and desk sideThe desktop support technician, will be expected to master software deployment, imaging, pc troubleshooting, and resolving ticketsThe user support technician will display excellent customer service and good communication skills with the customers and internally within all members of the it group.
Major duties and responsibilities:
Supports the ticketing requirement when assisting usersProvide support to end users on a variety of issuesIs responsible for monitoring the team ticket queue and assigning/resolving ticketsResponsible for recognizing, researching, isolating and resolving information system problemsCoordinates: referrals to appropriate assignment groups, repairs, training, and follow-ups as neededEscalates to senior members of the team when neededExcellent communications skills are a must.
Performs complex problem determination, diagnosis and resolution by identifying hardware and software problems and potential solutionsResearches issues for potential resolutions through documentation, online resources, collaborating and cross training with other its groupsPerforms these steps before escalating issues.
Supports the installation and configuration of new pc`s, software, peripheral equipment (printers, wireless devices, etc.) and telecommunication devices (mifis, cellphones).
Deliver `hands-on` training in-person and remotely, one-on-one or within a classroom environmentTrains user on the use of the ticketing systemDocuments instructions and solutions for other technicians and end usersProduces training videos when applicable.
Assists with its projects and works closely with other staff in completing these projectsIdentifies and evaluates new technology as it relates to laptop, desktop, or telecommunication improvements and standardizations.
Administrative duties as assigned (reviewing and updating tickets on a daily basis, inventory control, procurement processing, conference setup, documentation, timekeeping, submitting tickets, etc.)
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and experience:
2+ years solid experience in pcsoftware desktop support is required!
Associates degree in a computer science or a related field preferred.
A+ andor mcse certification preferred.
Knowledge and skills:
Working as part of the desktop team requires a candidate who is proactive and thrives working in a team settingAt times, call volumes and work load can be high so candidate must be able to multi-task and prioritize work orders accordingly.
Candidate must also show an aptitude to learn applications quickly and multi-task.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills (especially via the telephone).
Must be proficient in microsoft office suite, experience with as400 and jd edwards is a plus.
Must have in depth knowledge of pc based productsAdvanced knowledge or certification in relevant operating systems and applications is preferred.
Must be able to handle multiple priorities.
