The strategic communications and marketing specialist supports a wide array of company
Communications needs and prioritizes time on internal and external company messaging, social media, and online presence, and providing strategic voice and standardization to vpd leadership regarding messaging type, frequency, and appropriate dissemination mediumThe strategic communications and marketing specialist also contributes to vpd’s business growth initiatives through participation in the proposal development process and development of business development marketing materialsThis position is expected to work approximately 10-15 hours per week (occasionally less or more depending on business needs) and be available monday-friday.
Manage the overall company communications strategy based on leadership-directed initiatives and priorities, including type of communication, frequency, audience, and mode of dissemination
Oversee website design and content management using existing weebly platform or others as required to mature vpd’s image
Manage vpd’s linkedin business page
Develop external and internal marketing and communications products including but not limited to: human resources employee engagement products, recruiting flyers, business development capabilities papers and decksCommunications mediums could include electronic dissemination, paper distribution, presentation decks or microsoft word / .pdf documents as required based on audience intended for communication consumption and strategic goals of the material
Research, draft with guidance, and clear written materials for vpd leadership including internal and external messaging
Advise vpd operations staff regarding best practices in leveraging social media to support growth and employee engagement goalsAssist vpd leadership in developing relevant blog posts
Develop employee outreach and communications materials and support leadership development initiatives as required and on an ad hoc basis with strategic communications linkages between company events, social media, and internal messaging
Contribute to or develop relevant graphics and branding for vpd proposals and apply branding and/or formatting to other marketing material or internal-use communications when required
Develop an employee newsletter and distribute no less frequently than quarterly
Support ad hoc operations management projects as required
Manage communications and marketing filing / knowledge management system on the g-suite and recommend improvements to our internal systems as appropriate
Review written communication for errors and rewrite text to improve clarity/readability if needed
Develop and maintain word and other ms office templates and style sheets
Assess the quality of tables, charts, and illustrations for publication and adjust for clarity if needed
Develop content for and update vpd’s internal sharepoint site(s); this may involve some basic development work, content strategy and weekly curating of landing page
Perform other duties as needed to achieve vpd and/or customer mission success
Bachelor’s degree in a related field in communications related field required
2+ years of experience supporting communications and marketing related projects
Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and succinctly
Ability to be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and prioritize and balance a diverse workload
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent time management skills, including handling multiple projects simultaneously and on tight timeframes
Proficient in microsoft office suite to include developing branded templates in word, power point, sharepoint, etc.
Experience in web-design and sharepoint preferred
