Full job description
The tableau developer will work with the fpo business operations and analytics team, the eim (enterprise information management) and enterprise analytics teams, fpo finance and decision support systems teams, data governance staff, business analysts, end users, data owners, and bi and data management professionals to:
Develop clean and informative dashboards and reports utilizing tableauThis includes the design, development, enhancement, and support of innovative, meaningful, and useful visualizations with optimal performance for end-users
Take technical ownership of fpo’s visualization solution set, participating in:
Security and access control
Upgrades and patching (including impact to individual dashboards)
Creation and maintenance of key processes by collaborating with other developers
End-user and technical training
Usage and resource monitoring
Assist in training staff on the use and capabilities available within the solution set
Troubleshooting application and/or data anomalies with independent research and evaluation
Partner with business stakeholders and/or functional business analysts and/or project manager /solutions specialists to design and develop efficient and standards-based bi solutions using tableau’s bi products that satisfy business information reporting needs
Participate in the development of bi solution prototypes that demonstrate performance and usability to business and it stakeholders
Participate in the design and implementation of tableau bi solutions including data acquisition process design, use of bi technology features and functions, business rules processing, and data aggregation and summarization techniques
Participate in the tuning and performance improvement of tableau bi solutions
Participate in data governance process as defined by department/organization
Ensure the tableau infrastructure conforms to ucsf security standards and that appropriate access controls are in place
Collaborate with data modelers and data integration architects/developers to establish end-to-end data and information delivery architecture
Analyze, design, develop and implement etl workflows using tools such as sql, datastage, ssis, etc.
Producing supporting documentation (e.g., data catalogs, use cases, solutions, sops) and keeping existing documentation current
Adhering to and promoting analytic best practices for consistent performance, accuracy, quality, and reliability
Research and stay abreast of the latest trends in bi technologies
The faculty practice business operations and analytics (fpba) group is supporting ucsf’s mission to drive growth and innovation within ambulatory operations and ucsf health’s physician organizations by building out core digital and data capabilitiesThis team is responsible for leveraging current data assets and building integrated solutions to provide actionable insights for operations, finance, and strategic growthOur mission is to develop systems, tools, and processes that support the business intelligence and analytics needs of the faculty practice organization and ambulatory operationsWe do this by providing integrated, authoritative, and accurate information which is delivered and/or published for our customers through standard reports, system data interfaces, and self-service business intelligence toolsThis group is responsible for fostering and maintaining comprehensive analytics and reporting environment, ensuring that ucsf health has the analytic and reporting tools to support informed decision-making.
Bachelor`s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
3+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing secure, scalable, and high-performance business intelligence (bi) and analytic solutions; at least 5 years of experience as a tableau developer, and 1 year of experience as tableau administration
2 years of experience in bi and analytics in healthcare
Proficient in developing technical specifications, presentations, training materials, user documentation, and technical documentation
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated strong problem-solving skillsAble to learn effectively and meet deadlines
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs
2 years of experience in sql
Ability to communicate with high proficiency, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and staff, in both technical language and business terms
Ability to operate in a complex environment managing partner expectations and participate in several projects simultaneously
Advanced knowledge of tableau best practices with a focus on analytics interpretation, visualization, performance, and scalability
Experience creating and maintaining data visualizations standards
Master’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Epic clarity data model certification
