Optum behavioral care is a rapidly growing business within united health groupOptum behavioral care seeks to deliver a high-value and efficient behavioral health system that can be scaled nationally, and the company will grow rapidly over the next 5 years.
The obc behavioral health system will be built through strategic partnerships with innovative providers and service platforms, many that are new entrants and currently venture-backedTo evaluate partners and develop the care delivery system, in the first two years, obc will launch pilot demonstrations in across several markets nationallyFrom these pilot demonstrations, obc will build and scale the premier national behavioral health system for health systems, payers, state programs, and beyond.
Optum behavioral care is seeking candidates to serve as clinical implementation lead for portions of the pilot demonstrationsThe clinical implementation lead role is critical to helping scope, plan and execute critical tasks and deliverables which will enable the assigned markets to launch on time and on budgetThe clinical implementation lead will work in close partnership and under the guidance with the regional vp and cooCore accountabilities of the clinical implementation lead are:

Contribute to the design, development, and high fidelity implementation of the integrated clinical model to be deployed in obc pilots.
Create and execute a structured plan for implementing and scaling the obc high-value and efficient behavioral health system in multiple regional markets, initially focused on clinical implementation of market demonstration pilots.
Define, scope, and execute the pilot clinical implementation plan – distinct to individual markets of responsibility – leveraging broader strategy for obc and pilots to ensure alignment
Coordinate day-to-day operation in conjunction with obc operating team and optum shared departments to achieve goals and ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the obc pilots in designated regional markets.
Effectively manage clinical implementation timeline and associated resources
In order to implement high impact and sustaining health system and practice transformation, clinical implementation lead must be skilled in practice facilitation, communications development and planning, and develop close working relationships and partnership with provider operations and clinical leadership and champions, practice leaders, clinicians, and staff.
During and following implementation, serve as the primary point of contact for physician, clinician, clinical operations leaders and key stakeholders within assigned markets to ensure the timely and effective execution and sustained success of the market clinical implementation plan.
Use analytic output and reports developed by obc and prepare regular summaries, updates, and quality performance improvement plans for implementation sites.
Prepare communications plans and materials for critical stakeholder audiences as key milestones/phases of pilot demonstration
Work effectively with other business and support units across uhg (obc product / clinical, obh network, hce, etc.)The work of obc must be deeply integrated with other businesses, initiatives and resources across uhg.
Proactively identify, mitigate and manage risks associated with the pilot demonstrations
Track overall project kpi’s and identify trends related to health care quality, cost and other key clinical processes.
Identify and manage key learnings from pilots, work closely with obc operations team to apply across other markets
Successful candidates for the clinical implementation lead will have proven experience managing large and complex projects and a willingness to dig deep in the details of the work and relationships to ensure clinical implementation successThe successful candidate will have a proven track record of achieving results and effectively managing all aspects of the project

Masters level clinical degree in social work
5+ years of relevant business experience
5+ years of experience leading complex projects of at least $500,000
Experience communicating with and influencing thinking of c-suite clinical executives, practice and clinical operations leaders
Experience with communication plan development and execution, including content development and channel deployment
Experience delivering results with large-scale, cross-functional teams in highly matrixed organizations
Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects to ensure their quality and on-time delivery
Proven track record of accomplishing work through others and inspiring others through times of ambiguity
Proven experience of leveraging data and insights to drive business outcomes, including identifying risks and mitigation tactics
Track record of cross-functional, system thinking leadership and execution of complex, organization-wide initiativesIncludes driving functional dependencies outside of immediate control to align to joint objectives
Adept at using microsoft powerpoint and visio for workflow development and communication

Mental health or substance use disorder specialty
