Your role:
Tenable is looking for a senior research engineer to join our sustaining research engineering teamThis position will involve adding efficient and holistic coverage to our existing set of plugins and detections in order to guarantee an effective and timely response to research support escalationsThe role would involve interfacing with other stakeholders within and outside of tenable.
Your opportunity:
Leads complex technical analysis on vulnerability coverage and implements fixes and enhancements in tenable products via plugins
Resolves customer issues; helps get to the root cause of the issue and provides holistic closure - helps them understand their vulnerability scan results, their compliance with industry standards, and how tenable can help them address their cyber exposure gap.
Diagnose, research, reproduce, and report defects, working closely with our support engineering and sales team and other research stakeholders
Mentors team members and helps other researchers when needed
Drives automation & documentation efforts and initiatives within the sustaining and interacts with other research teams
Primary point of contact for tenable product queries from other internal teams regarding coverage capability and scanning
Maintains and updates existing coverage information and detection validation for vulnerability detection
Maintains an in depth technical knowledge of all tenable products
What you`ll need:
Ability to work independently as a researcher as well as part of a team, leading the effort on some projects and being an active member of the team on other initiatives
Ability to recognize trends within incoming issues and bugs
Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks effectively
Evaluate existing detection methods for services and products from different vendors
Strong programming skills in one or more languagesPython experience is preferred, but not required
Strong skills in troubleshooting and root cause analysis
Experience working with multiple operating systems (proficiency with linux a must)
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Adaptable and able to shift priorities among initiatives, as needed
Obsessed with quality & accuracy
Initiative and drive to explore and learn continually
B.sDegree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
And ideally:
