Overview full-time/permanent employee location: remote – with preferred locations in warner robins, ga or dayton, oh
Our client is seeking an am materials engineer / expert to support our air force and department of defense (dod) clients across several key locationsThe candidate will assist in the adoption of am designs into the aerospace and military domains including qualification of designs, material equivalency determinations, quality control requirements, production control, and configuration managementThis position is a key part of the team leading additive manufacturing implementation and maturation for the air force and the other military services.
Clearance: eligible to obtain a secret level clearance
Years of experience: 12+ years (see below)
Education: bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, materials, or other related engineering discipline*
12+ years in manufacturing, materials, quality or mechanical engineering with at least 5+ of those year being directly with am seeing successfully qualified metal parts produced
Extensive working knowledge of additive manufacturing materials and limitations
Extensive experience in applying additive manufacturing practice to production
Understanding of industry best practice in qualification of am designs
Understanding of industry best practice in am quality control
Understanding of additive manufacturing types, limitations, and printing considerations in adapting parts for 3d printing preferred
Highly motivated and innovative thinker capable of working with minimal oversight to achieve given objectives
Excellent oral and written communication skill sets
Willingness to travel approximately one trip a month throughout the conus
The educational requirement may be waived for an individual who possesses substantial experience and performance at this level.
Master’s degree in engineering or engineering management
Experience with creo parametric in creating and modifying model-based definition technical data packages
Experience with solidworks in creating and modifying model-based definition technical data packages
Understanding of air force configuration control requirements and cm2 configuration control best practices
Experience preparing/reviewing technical documents for configuration control boards
Experience in performing finite element analysis and simulations
