Scope of position: the head of business continuity and resiliency is the senior leader accountable for establishing the india strategy in collaboration with global stakeholders, leading, executing and monitoring the resiliency and continuity programs for state street india and joint venturesThe role is responsible for working with the business teams to comply with state street corporate, resiliency standards and regulatory expectations, and providing strategic direction to businesses in having a comprehensive and credible testing strategy in place to meet those requirementsAs a result, the individual is required to build a strong business continuity structure encompassing business recovery and emergency response management – planning and goals, development and execution of testing programs, facilitate plans during crisis events, leverage information and communication toolsIn addition, the role should focus on business resiliency standards including concentration risks, and propose strategic long term goalsThe individual will interface closely with and provide influence to senior and executive leadership teams in india, enterprise resiliency teams and business units to establish and execute the india business continuity and resiliency strategyThe individual is required to build effective relationships and interface with senior levels, regulators, global stakeholders, clients and industry peersIt has an incident management component that may require non-traditional working hours depending on crisis situationsThe role reports to the head of strategy, planning and governance in indiaPrimary responsibilities:
The head of business continuity and resiliency will be responsible for outlining the scope of business continuity program (bcp) as well as developing a detailed definition, implementation and execution strategy, followed by governance & cadence mechanisms, around the global bcp frameworkThe role will provide strategic direction and oversight regarding the continued evolution of the india business continuity and resiliency program in line with corporate standards and regulatory expectationsDevelop resiliency strategy for recovery and restarting critical business services - evaluate the program, plans, procedures and workflows to identify any issues and gaps to be addressed before occurrence of disruptive eventFocus on defining resiliency strategy beyond business continuity and disaster recovery, considering sustainability, agility and adaptability the firm needs to adjust to long-term changes in how it operatesMajor responsibilities include:
Establish and execute the india business continuity and resiliency strategy and work with india business leaders, joint venture management and enterprise continuity services team to continuously evolve the continuity and resiliency program to proactively respond to regulatory and business changes
Work closely with business leaders in creating awareness and elevating business continuity and resiliency as an integral part of risk excellence culture
Accountable for development, maintenance, implementation of business continuity, resiliency (including disaster recovery), concentration risk with debrief of regular mock disaster exercises to test adequacy of existing strategies, updating procedures and plans regularly
Drive a comprehensive program management to maintain a sustainable resiliency environment and monitor resiliency readiness
Development and reporting against metrics and key performance indicators, meant to assess program health and continuous improvement
Establish and maintain an effective program in alignment with laws and regulations, partnering closely with second and third line of defense partners
Participate in regional industry groups, conferences to gain perspective and concepts to further evolve the program
Deep dive into data, existing processes, people and technology challenges in order to identify risks and opportunities
Partner with critical stakeholders to coordinate recovery strategies as identified through business continuity planning process and assist in responding to significant disruptive events
Drive innovation and transformation with the ability to identify gaps in existing processes and propose best practices in terms of regular deliverables and long term strategy
Introduce efficient processes and tools to manage and govern business continuity, resiliency including concentration risk
Building a high performing culture and agile team of professionals to support exceptional services to our stakeholders, apply sound business principles and data analysis to identify problems and initiate actions to address them
Establish credibility across business units in india, holding business leaders primarily accountable for the quality and effectiveness of continuity plans and incident response
Ability to influence and partner closely with global stakeholders including enterprise continuity teams, control groups and business leaders in developing the “best in class” continuity and resiliency program in line with regulatory and business expectations
Establish a strong operating model within the bcp function in india with continuous training process to build expertise within the team, and leadership capabilities to lead from the front and collaborate with global stakeholders
Mentor team and build leadership capacities to support the strategic and long term changes
Lead through ambiguity & across large, complex and global corporate network, partnering & developing effectively with global teams
Additionally, should be able to operate autonomously, use discretion when dealing with sensitive and critical information
Qualifications:
17+ years’ experience with establishing and running business continuity programs for large financial institution with multiple business; experience in incident management and response
Solid experience in understanding regulatory expectations and delivering on the same in compressed timeframe
Continuity and/or risk certification preferred
Experience and proven track record of understanding, interpreting and delivering on regulatory expectations relating to business continuity and resiliency
Complete knowledge of business continuity management lifecycle, incident management, crisis management, disaster recovery, resiliency and concentration risk
Ability to handle multiple priorities, work on tight deadlines, coupled with a commitment to the highest quality standards and an eye for detail
Experience in program management or played strategic role in advising in-house teams and stakeholders in setting up business resiliency, business continuity programs including incident management
Demonstrates thought leadership and proven relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills at senior levels across lines of business, good judgment while under pressure
Demonstrates expertise in project management, analytics, stakeholder engagement, people leadership, leveraging technology and quality
Ability to drive initiative independently with minimal supervision
Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills (clients, regulators, boards, and executives)
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, drive results and meet deadlines
Ability to interface and influence with all levels within the organization in india and across all regions
Microsoft suite - emphasis on microsoft powerpoint and excel
Understanding of it concepts and infrastructure is a plus
