Network engineer responsibilities:
O technical ability to configure and install various network/security devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls)
O perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
O technical ability to configure/edit vpn tunnels and provide troubleshooting for vpn related issues.
O a deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired.
O basic understanding of ethernet, tcp/ip, routing and switching.
O monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
O monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
O provide level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
O work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
O select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
O liaise with vendors and other it personnel for problem resolution
O maintaining and administering wired and wireless network infrastructure and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
O providing standard documentation for network infrastructure and making it available to divisional network support staff upon request.
O managing network software license compliance in accordance with organization guidelines and funding; reporting any non-compliance to customer immediately.
O performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
O working with the help desk to resolve network-related problems and issues.
O troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
O assist onsite staff in replacing faulty network hardware components when required.
O maintaining, configuring and monitoring virus protection software and email applications.
O monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
O conferring with network users about solving existing network problems.
O operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems.
O designing, configuring, and testing networking software, and hardware.
O reviewing the current network and infrastructure security and presenting proposed plans to resolve issues with physical access, server location, power management and backups.
O implementing new technology initiatives as directed and when budgeted to support service and customer’s technology goals and objectives.
Required qualifications - b.tech, bca & bsc it.
