What your job will be like
We are seeking a hardworking mechanical engineer (job title: r&d s&e, mechanical engineering) to join the mk21 fuze program! the job will require the ability to balance a variety of roles and responsibilities as the mk21 fuze enters the critical period of final qualification and process prove in (ppi) on one hand and the air force ground based strategic deterrent (gbsd) program prepares for engineering & manufacturing development (emd) on the otherStrong critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively communicate are essentialAre you passionate about your work and dream of utilizing state-of-the-art facilities to explore solutions? this role could be a great fit!
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Participate in integration activities with system engineering & integration (se&i), system qualification, and product realization teams (prts)
Conduct system test planning, test execution, and analysis activities
Define requirements, develop, build, and test hardware for gbsd/mk21 fuze ground and flight test integration activities
Represent sandia in various forums internally and externally
Provide technical consultancy on critical design elements
Develop and/or present material for design reviews, sponsor and customer meetings, and se&i meetings
Provide analysis support for technical requirements revisions
Support earned value management (evm) planning and execution
Qualifications we require
Bachelor`s degree in mechanical engineering or relevant engineering discipline and 4 years of relevant experience; or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or relevant engineering discipline
Academic or job experiences in areas such as: engineering design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects
Ability to obtain and maintain a u.sDoe q security clearance
Ability to travel up to 25%
Qualifications we desire
Proven ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with internal organizations and external production facilities and suppliers
Familiarity with computational simulation and modeling tools and/or computer aided design tools - creo/proe, solidworks, etc.
Familiarity with development of specifications for components and systems
Experience with earned value management
Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling
Experience in a leadership role
Knowledge and/or experience of system engineering concepts and principles
Active u.sDoe q-level security clearance
