What your job will be like
Are you passionate about your work in advanced embedded electronics architectures? join a dynamic multidisciplinary team as an electrical engineer specializing in the development and maturation of innovative space mission enabling electronics architectures.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Lead and collaborate with technical team members on the design of space electronics architectures
Drive design realization through full life cycle; conceptual designs, trade studies, detail designs, procedures, assembly, testing, and verification
Develop and present proposals for funding from both internal and external customers
Identify resources from across sandia to address technical needs
Serve as a technical/programmatic interface for multiple levels of customers/internal management
Document customer expectations, define performance requirements, and work with the technical team to assure all expectations and requirements are met
Balance cost, schedule, performance and risk to optimize path forward
Define spend plans, supervise financial performance, and update the customer and internal management on regular intervals
Identify gaps and opportunities to drive innovative solutions and build the future of space
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite
Qualifications we require
Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or relevant stem field; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Equivalent experience in lieu of degrees must be engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
Five (5) years` of engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development including three years designing advanced system architectures
Ability to obtain and maintain a doe q and sci clearance, which may require a polygraph test
Qualifications we desire
Interest leading multidisciplinary technical teams at the system level
Experience designing space-based electronics system architectures, satellite payloads or aerospace programs
Proven ability in the design, analysis, realization, and testing of electrical products
Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated through technical publications and presentations.
Ability to collaborate with commercial or contracted suppliers to acquire hardware, software, or custom components
Experience in designing digital and/or analog circuitry including sensors in a variety of technologies
Ability to work across a wide variety of engineering and science fields to integrate lower-level designs and delivered subsystems into a completed product
Ability to bound/estimate and deliver systems and/or components while meeting cost, schedule, and performance
System level experience in embedded electronic systems modeling and simulation as well as experience mapping performance and icd requirements to embedded system instances
Proven record of implementing and delivering technical work products with application of appropriate difficulty and pedigree documentation (design/code reviews, technical guidance/approvals, project team concurrence, artifact generation, etc.)
Familiarity with hardware and/or software requirements generation for verification, validation and qualification
Active doe q and sci security clearance or equivalent
