The senior legal counsel will be part of a global team of in-house attorneys collectively responsible for the global coverage of legal and regulatory matters pertaining to privately offered funds administered by ss&c’s global platformThe position requires an experienced attorney in the areas of private fund regulation and compliance with both us and offshore regulations impacting private funds and their service providers including applicable aml lawsThe successful candidate will be expected to provide strategic legal advice on high risk matters and global initiatives.
Providing timely legal advice and assistance to the global investor services team which is responsible for processing investor transactions and reporting to investors
Reviewing, interpreting, and advising on relevant laws and industry best practices pertaining to issues impacting the investor services team
Advising with respect to special projects and initiatives undertaken by the investor services team
Providing timely legal advice and assistance on matters related to global aml laws applicable to private funds
Reviewing, interpreting, and advising on relevant laws and industry best practices pertaining to aml
Advising with respect to select special projects arising from the administration of the global aml program
Providing support as a subject matter expert and knowledge-sharing within the legal team
Overseeing compliance with the regulatory reporting and corporate governance obligations of the cayman and bermuda subsidiaries of ss&c
Organizing and overseeing board meetings to review relevant kpi and internal reporting requirements
Timely reporting/escalation to senior management to ensure they are kept abreast of all matters of legal and regulatory risk
Assisting with responses to any regulatory exams and other relevant inquiries and internal audits
Advising on impact to the business of contemplated and proposed laws, rules and regulations
Participating on internal governance committees
The successful candidate will be an experienced attorney, ideally having at least 7 - 10 years’ prior relevant work experience involving the administration or regulation of private funds.
Familiarity with offshore (cayman, bermuda) private fund regulations and aml requirements is a requirementProven leadership capability and change agility are essential.
Interaction with non-u.sCounsel is required so experience working for or with an international company is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are important as is a knowledge of issues impacting private funds and their regulation.
The ability to concisely present factual and legal issues to myriad audiences and provide sound and succinct recommendations to senior leaders is essential.
The candidate must also be able to function as a trusted advisor to control functions and business line managers.
Attorney must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction.
