Purpose and objectives

As our customers are moving mission critical business processes and workloads into the s/4hana cloud to evolve their business, it is our obligation to always deliver our services with highest levels of reliabilityWe are therefore establishing a dedicated new site reliability engineering team for s/4hana.

The team’s mission is to define and drive reliability objectives and prevent incidents before they happenWe identify service problems, reliability risks and areas for improvement by continuously assessing and measuring the reliability levels while considering issues as learning opportunitiesEmbedded into product engineering, the group will work hand in hand with development, product support, cloud operations and our customer success teams.

Expectations and tasks

Superior team player with a high quality standard, cloud mindset, challenge the status quo and make things happen
Develop and mature automation (e.gAnsible, terraform, abap, python,…) for technology transformation from hana on-premise towards hana cloud (hana as a service) and as well help reduce manual efforts across full s/4hana stack and application life cycle in dev and ops.
Participate in reliability risk assessments to identify improvement measures and implement corrective / preventive measures jointly with product engineering and cloud operations
Support development & operations teams during service restoration of major incidents or critical upgrades (might occationally require on-call duties or weekend work)
Leverage failure as learning and improvement opportunities by engaging in post-mortems and driving continuous improvement of services, automation and monitoring
Interest in technology solutions and ability to learn/understand emerging technologies, methodologies and solutions in the cloud/it technology space
Well versed with engineering, quality assurance and/or technical service operations practices like agile/scrum, continuous integration / delivery; knowledge in itil or devops is a plus
Technical background in development / engineering around sap’s core components (abap, netweaver, hana, github,…) or cloud operations (systems management, monitoring, automation) is a value add.

Education and qualifications / skills and competencies

Bachelor / master degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering or business information technology
Open, friendly, creative personality with service-oriented professional can-do attitude, strong intercultural skills with proven agility and flexibility and a high sense of responsibility
Highly responsive, takes pride in always-on accessibility and thrives in fast-paced environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks and deliver highest quality work under time constraints and in complex environments
Out of the box thinking and willingness to make the impossible possible
Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills in english

Work experience

0 - 3 years of experience in development / engineering or technical operations role
Excellent understanding of sap’s overall strategy as well as product strategy.
