Applications and solutions controls design engineer responsibilities
Deliver an overall system design and concept to meet the business objectives, profitability, schedule, and design intent for the proposal.
Provide sales support and oversee the design and application process for project proposals.
Collaborate cross-functionally with customer development, sales, engineering, operations, vendor, and safety teams to ensure a high-level of detail and thoroughness are achieved in every proposal.
Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor the assigned engineering proposals.
Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, qa/qc policies, performance standards, and specifications.
Work with the sales team and customer to develop an understanding of their business and operational needs.
Analyze customer data to determine system requirements.
Gather information for proposal documents describing system requirements, proposed solution, scope of work, pricing, return-on-investment, etc.
Review customer sows, rfps, rfqs, and project specifications as requested.
Attend pricing, concept, and customer review meetings.
Define electrical devices: sensors, vfds, scanners, and plc components.
Contribute to test plans for commissioning and acceptance efforts.
Assist in presenting the solution to the customer.
Effectively communicate with customers in high-impact scenarios.
Plus other duties as assigned.
Travel up to 15% domestically.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent work experience.
4+ years of experience as an applications or systems engineer or related occupation.
Design and/or implementation experience with integrated automation solutions, such as material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines.
Proficiency with allen bradley controllogix/compactlogix plc control platforms.
Proficiency with autocad, autocad electrical, and/or other cad programs (inventor, revit, bim 360, etc.).
Proficiency with microsoft office products: excel, project, and outlook.
Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering, operations, business administration, or a related field.
Exposure to six sigma, lean manufacturing efforts, transportation/logistics and/or fulfillment/distribution centers.
Proven knowledge of vendor and/or manufacturer drawing and pricing tools, i.e., hytrol (hycad), tgw (tgdraw), and honeywell (icad, ips, hcad).
Demonstrated design and/or implementation experience with integrated automation solutions, such as material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines.
Design and implementation experience in industrial electrical design, plc programming, hmi software design, industrial networking, mcc hardware/software configuration, and closed-loop servo controls.
Experience with motion control and robotics.
Proven technical leadership for applications engineering projects or programs.
