Overview: the continuous improvement engineer is responsible for driving process improvements within the operation while maintaining high levels of quality, safety, employee morale, cost, and productionThey are to analyze and improve the processes and work closely with project managers, quality specialists, and operation managers to identify the potential for improvements, inefficiencies, and gapsResponsibilities:
Develop measurement methodologies, studies, inspection strategies, and process improvements related to distribution and manufacturing operations.
Work with rain bird engineers, and external consultants and vendors on the design, purchasing, and implementation of complex automation, material handling equipment, process documentation, and other distribution and manufacturing systems.
Work with operations management to develop and conduct training related to process and quality improvements.
Initiates, facilitates and leads problem-solving teams to establish root cause and corrective actions utilizing 6 sigma, kaizen, and other formal techniques
Utilize lean manufacturing tools to identify and develop solutions that drive operational improvement.
Collect and analyze data on plant processes, procedures, and performance using evaluation tools and make recommendations for improvement to the leadership team.
Provides technical support for manufacturing to resolve quality and productivity issues by standardizing production system tools and methods
Lead production, quality, and inventory management teams.
Responsible for design and implementation of process improvement leading to increased efficiency, customer satisfaction, and quality.
Define and lead process improvements and actively participate on the corporate quality council.
Work with marketing, distribution, customer service, mis, sbu quality managers and manufacturing to refine systems, packaging, and procedures to assure customer expectations are met.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering with an emphasis in lean manufacturing, supply chain or other technical discipline
7+ years’ experience in manufacturing and/or distribution
Knowledge of lean concepts and tools (5s, visual workplace, mistake proofing, pdca, standard work, etc.)
Knowledge of industrial engineering tools (time studies, layouts, kpis, value-added/non-value-added analysis, etc.)
Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing and team-building skills.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and implement changes.
Desired qualifications:
Mba or other business graduate degree
Bilingual english/ spanish preferred.
Black belt certification in six sigma
10+ years’ experience in the distribution and logistics environment.
