The research associate ii will assist with intermediate-level data collection and data management research tasks on a project involving national surveys of recovery residencesReporting to the principal investigator (pi), the research associate will be involved in several aspects of the project including refinement and management of an access database, programming and management of survey data collected in surveygizmo/alchemer, recruiting and/or tracking recovery residence survey participants, facilitating participant payments, and other data management activities pertaining to the recovery residence database and survey dataThe research associate will also assist the pi in preparing irb materials, updating content for the study website, collecting and analyzing qualitative data from interviews with recovery residence operatorsThe research associate will also work with the pi and study biostatisticians in preparing the data for analysis and assist with the development of reports, presentations, and manuscripts from this work.
The position is full-time for one year with potential for continuation pending additional fundingThis position is expected to work in a hybrid model with a combination of days working remotely and days working in person in the office.
Pay: $23.94 to $28.82 per hourThe typical hiring range for this position is $23.94 to $28.82 per hour (with an approximate annualized salary of $49,800 to $59,955 based on 100% fte)The starting wage is determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills and experience.
Essential duties & responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of human subjects submissions and assist the pi in other tasks related to study regulatory compliance.
Develop tables, forms, reports, and queries, to otherwise refine and manage recruitment and tracking data in an access platform.
Program, test, and manage the electronic surveygizmo/alchemer survey that will be used to collect data from recovery residence operators.
Manage all aspects of survey respondent recruitment and participation, including participant payment.
Maintain and clean study data and prepare study methods/procedures documentation and data codebooks.
Conduct preliminary data analysis (qualitative and quantitative) and prepare tables and graphs of results.
Complete literature searches, compile review summaries as needed, and assist with project presentations and manuscripts.
Other tasks as needed.
2 years of research experience in a relevant area, such as public health, psychology or sociologyApplicants without research experience will not be considered.
Experience using excellent computer skills including experience developing and managing spreadsheets (excel) and database applications (access, surveygizmo/alchemer).
Experience implementing standard research operating procedures, protocols, and quality controls.
Experience recruiting and collecting data from these professionals.
Experience conducting basic quantitative and qualitative analyses.
Experience with quantitative data analysis packages, such as spss or stata (or other comparable statistical analysis programs) as well as qualitative data analysis techniques and data management packages such as nvivo.
Bachelor’s degree in science or quantitative field, or you can substitute with four additional years of related experience.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Excellent organizational skilled with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
Familiarity with standard research operating procedures, protocols, and quality controls.
Ability to interface with health service professionals.
Ability to conduct literature searches and succinctly communicate findings.
Familiarity with descriptive and inferential statistical procedures.
Ability to convey information clearly and concisely and summarize research findings in written form.
Fieldwork or research experience with substance use treatment providers or other human service professionals in community settings is highly desirable.
Master’s degree highly desirable.
