Patch bio engineers dna for gene therapyWe build technology to make gene therapies safer and more effective, and able to address a broader range of diseasesTo do that, we work at the interface of genomics, machine learning, and dna synthesisWe are a seed-stage, venture-backed biotech startup based in new york city.
Role
Apply and help develop our technology to improve the expression of genetic medicines in cns, especially from a cell-specific perspective.
Responsibilities
Establish model systems and develop protocols for library experiments in cns cells, including in vitro (e.g., ipsc), and in vivo (e.g., healthy and transgenic mice).
Be our subject matter expert when it comes to cns.
Perform cns-targeted injections of aavs.
Harvest and process mouse cns tissue, including tissue sectioning, dissociation, fixation, and facs analysis.
Perform histology of tissue sections, including immunofluorescence, fish, and/or ihc.
Prepare sequencing libraries extracted from the relevant cell populations.
Work with cros where needed.
Qualifications
Phd in a relevant field, with 7+ years experience working with mammalian systems and gene therapy or gene editing.
Senior: 5+ years experience leading scientific teams, as postdoc or in industry.
Solid experience working with cns in vivo.
Experience isolating specific cns cell populations.
Skilled with a broad range of experimental techniques, including at least several of molecular cloning, pcr, protein analysis and expression, ngs, immunoassays (e.g., elisa), fluorescence microscopy, mouse tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry.
Desire to work in a rapidly growing company, and a fast-changing environment.
Desirable plus
Experience with primary cells and/or ipscs
Experience with disease models
Familiarity with data analysis environments such as python or r, and/or experience collaborating with computational scientists.
