Role:
Under direction of a project geophysicist, site geophysicist, and project manager, a field geophysicist performs a variety of data collection tasks using geophysical and gps equipmentThose tasks include conducting quality control tests and collecting digital geophysical data to support remedial investigation or removal action projects at formerly used defense sites with potential unexploded ordnance contaminationBetween field assignments the field geophysicist supports the project team by assisting with work plan preparation, report writing, and data analysisThe field geophysicist will work up to leading the field component of the geophysical investigation and performing data processing and interpretationAssignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of geophysical data acquisition, processing and analysis and assist the project team in the remedial investigation or removal actionThe main focus of this role is working on sites with unexploded ordinance but may also include some soil and water remediation tasksExtensive travel around the usa to various field sites40-60% travel.
Responsibilities:
Acquiring em61-mk2, g-858, metalmapper, and temtads data
Tracking qc information in an access-format data base
Performing field and office tasks requiring the application of basic geophysical principles and theories
Writing geophysics sections of work plans and reports for cercla ri and remediation projects
Performing anomaly reacquisition using em61-mk2, g-858, and real time kinematic gps sensors
Conducting or monitoring daily quality control tests of equipment and methods and documenting test results
Processing em61-mk2, g-858, data using geosoft`s oasis montaj software
Interpreting geophysical data collected with the instruments listed above
Qualifications:
Required:
Four-year degree in geophysics, geology, or related field and 0 to 3 years experience
Good written and oral communication skills
Desired:
Experience with field geophysical data acquisition using the em61-mk2, g-858, metalmapper, or temtads 2x2 sensors
Experience with field geophysical data acquisition using rtk gps equipment
Experience with geosoft`s oasis montaj geophysical data processing software
Experience using ms access databases
Familiarity with software packages typically associated with the discipline is preferred.
The anticipated annualized full time target compensation (median) for this position is: $46,000.00.
