Pdk international and its mission of educators rising, is seeking an up-and-coming and dynamic individual to grow our reach through leveraging traditional and digital media, keep abreast of policy and politics, and continue to position pdk as a leader in the education spaceThe communications manager will work as a member of pdk international’s outreach and engagement team to assist in brand, voice, and marketing with a primary focus on executing the communication and public relations strategy for pdk international and educators risingThe position will report to the director of outreach and engagementPrimary duties: responsibilities include:
Create and execute a communications plan in conjunction with the marketing and sales teams such that pdk’s presence in traditional, digital, and social media education and workforce channels are well represented.
Provide leadership in the tactical execution of the communications strategy.
Develop and consolidate relations with local and national media outlets and assist with outreach to partner organizations.
Keep abreast of the shifting policies and opportunities in the education, legislative, and political spheres.
Create and maintain media kits for the organization’s programs and channels.
Write and edit copy for emails, press releases, op-eds, media alerts, and other copies.
Keep track of organization-related matters published in traditional and digital media and assist in strategy for leveraging internal and external content.
Generate social media and website content, including drafting and executing campaigns based on communications efforts and internal publications.
Maintain press and partner contact lists.
Be able to execute and drive marketing efforts when the marketing team is unavailable.
Execute deliverables on both on deadline and with two to three months preset leeway.
Other duties as assigned.

Exceptional “egoless” work ethic
1-3 years communication experience in the education sector with a preference in k-12 public education or related non-profits
Demonstrated understanding of education policy communications strategy.
Experience in both marketing and communications.
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Excellent verbal communication skills
Exceptional organization and attention to detail
Ability to write for various audiences in the appropriate tone, including college students and higher education administrators.
Both a team player and a proven self-starter/independent workerAbility to balance independent thought and execution of directives within a strategy.
Bachelor’s or commensurate work experience required.
Experience in mailchimp, canva, hubspot, and similar
Compensation and location pdk international is prepared to offer $45k -$55k with competitive benefitsPdk will operate remotely for the foreseeable futureApply Now
