At meta, we are developing the future of ar/vr displaysAs a microled system engineer within reality labs, your job will be to translate our product requirements and roadmaps into component-level requirements and technology strategy, particularly of our rgb led-based light enginesYou will perform analyses and sensitivity studies to help inform the system performance under different use casesYou will be a critical member of a multi-disciplinary team contributing to our efforts to research, develop, and evaluate new device architectures to meet the requirements of augmented reality (ar) systemsYou will work closely with internal reality labs teams, academic institutions, external partners, and vendors to define both system level and device level requirements and cross-functionally collaborate to execute on the deliverables and technology roadmapsIdeal team members are adaptable and resilient, eager to approach unfamiliar problems with curiosity and tenacity, flexible to travel and take on possible assignments at partner locations.
Microled systems engineer responsibilities:
Flow down product requirements to sub-system and component level requirement documentationResolve requirements discrepancies at different levelsTranslate optical requirements into optoelectronic requirements
Translate product roadmaps into component-level technology roadmaps
Deliver power analyses to inform device and system performance under different use cases
Cross-functional engagement with internal and external partners to develop concepts and prototypes into realizable product hardware designs
Collaborate with internal cross functional teams and external industry partners to develop and mature state-of-the-art technologies (e.gMaterial, process, metrology, and design) to extend the horizon of ar/vr experience
Create, revise, and maintain component-level functional requirements documents and use to guide engineering specifications and test plan definitions
Gather, link, and manipulate large data sets to analyze complex system and drive/inform decision-making
Minimum qualifications:
M.sIn optical engineering, optical sciences, physics, electrical engineering or related fields or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience as an engineer/scientist working on display, projection, and/or imaging systems
5+ years of experience in semiconductor device design, physics, and/or characterization
2+ years of experience in matlab or python programming (or similar)
Experience in developing systems with multi-function/multi-disciplinary threads
Experience in multiphysics modelling
Experience in opto-mechanical integration and system design
Demonstrated experience communicating across organization levels
Preferred qualifications:
Ph.dIn optical engineering, optical sciences, physics, electrical engineering or related fields or equivalent experience
