This job is responsible for strategic planning, direction and overall accountability for key clients and aspects of team managementThe employee will independently make decisions that could seriously affect the overall division and/or company’s reputation and strategic resultsThis position will assist the director of public relations with strategic planning and direction of all external and media-specific communications for all health system regions and entities, and related ventures, affiliations and partnerships to optimize positive knowledge, awareness, and understanding of company services, products, capabilities, assets and positions.

Required – bachelor’s degree in communication, business or related field
Preferred – master’s degree in communication, business or related field
Required – 8 years of strong public relations experience including strategy development, supervisor or management experience, national and regional media relations, metric driven.
Preferred - 10 years agency, preferably in a hospital setting
Knowledge skills and abilities (ksas)
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills inclusive of talking points, speeches, press releases, media pitches and crisis communications.
Must be proficient with windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboardProficiency in microsoft word, power point, excel and pr tools such as cision, tv eyes or trendkite.
Interpersonal skills to develop strong professional relationships outside of the organization including key external stakeholders.
Ability to multi-task several large projects at once in an organized fashion
Seasoned media relations background with strong regional and national results
Ability to manage multiple employees
Ability to create strategic reports and effectively present metric reporting to executives and physician leadership
Develop integrated external communications strategies for the system, regions, service lines and related ventures.
Direct or supervise public relations staff to set and achieve goals and targets in a timely manner to support the operating goals of the organization through communication of key external messages.
Own and continually assess the company`s position in key regional markets and develop strategies to increase relationships and share of positive voice in areas where growth is a key to achieving system priorities.
Interfaces regularly with physician leadership and key administrators to develop communications strategies to support media relations efforts, awareness and reputation building, and the success of external messaging using a variety of channels, platforms and technologies
Maintain ongoing analysis of department operating and performance statistics.
Assist with managing all aspects of external communication and relationships with the local, regional, national and industry media including proactive, reactive and crisis communications for the system.
Optimizes results through the delivery and measurement of consistent messaging across multiple platforms and tactics
Other related duties as required.
