What you’ll get to do:
The electrical engineering manager 2 is responsible for managing a staff of 17 electrical engineersThis department is the focal point of design and development activities in area of propulsion and power generation equipmentTheir expertise includes product development and production support for power electronics and control systemsThey produce work products such as engineering drawings, technical reports, and test plans.
As an engineering manager, the candidate will work to ensure all staffing needs are met, drives talent development, and instill a culture of technical ownership amongst the power electronics groupThe candidate must collaborate with functional and program leadership, business development, business management, mission assurance, product development, and global supply chain management to resolve complex issues in a timely manner often by leading from the front for nascent issues.
The core competency of this group includes non-contacting sensor technologies, electrical machine design, insulation design for electrical machines, control systems for turbine and generators, cable design, power electronics, and the modeling and simulation of these subsystems to ensure critical performance criteria are metResponsibilities range from identifying and assessing these capabilities to cultivating subject matter expertsThis role also requires collaborating with business development and program management team to develop technology road maps and readiness plans for future business captures.
Limited travel may be required.
Basic qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an electrical engineering with 9 years of relevant experience; or a master`s degree in a stem discipline with 7 years of relevant experience;
Proven track record of managing direct reports of various levels and disciplines
Ability to provide technical communication and coordination with senior leadership.
Proven ability to lead cross functional teams.
Experience in leading root cause investigations.
Experience with budget and schedule management.
Create, improve and sustain engineering systems, standards, and processes.
Ability to organize and manage multiple products/programs with the focus on delivering within cost and on schedule.
Strong knowledge in engineering systems and processes such as drawing development, dfma and configuration control
Proven ability to perform problem analysis and resolution using lean and continuous improvement tools
Us citizenship with ability to apply for dod secret clearance (or higher).
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree in electrical engineering
Experience as a technical lead, project manager, or other demonstrated leadership role related to program execution
Experience with electric motor and generator design
Experience with large scale rotating machinery, especially in naval applications
Experience with design and integration of complex electro-mechanical systems
Demonstrated ability with modeling, design, and implementation of control system architectures
Model based systems engineering (mbse), requirements development, or technical project management experience preferred.
Understanding and knowledge of agile (scrum) techniques and activities.
Knowledge of technology road map development
Experience with proposals development and earned value management systems
Salary range: $143,500 usd - $215,300 usd
