Northrop grumman’s propulsion systems organization is seeking an information development and instructional technology engineer (or professional with a similar technical background) to support the electronic shop instruction (esi) teamThe position will test, document, and train others on a suite of commercial and custom applications used by the operations, process engineering, and quality engineering teams.
The position is based out of promontory, ut, location but other locations and telecommuting/remote work options are available.
Writing effective help files and release notes.
Design and deliver software training that meets the needs of a varied audience (delivery is both web-based and instructor led).
Manage training class schedules, student registration, and student signoff.
Development and maintenance of application help content using oxygen software and dita standards.
Design and manage support web sites using sharepoint and html.
Test new software builds to ensure end user needs and functionality goals are met.
Translate detailed designs into computer software documentation.
Maintain strong expertise and knowledge of current and emerging technologies and products.
Support calls to software help desk.
Bachelor of science degree (or equivalent) in technical communication or instructional design (or a related stem discipline) with two (2) or more years of experience; or master of science degree (or equivalent) with (0) zero years of professional experience
Position may be filled at a higher level requiring a bachelor’s degree with five (5) or more years of experience, a master’s degree with three (3) or more years of experience, or a doctoral degree will be considered for a higher pay grade, depending on experience and qualifications
Candidates with degrees in other disciplines will be considered with the appropriate background and skills
Ability to work well in a team environment that is cross-team functional.
Possess strong oral/written communication skills.
Ability to showcase instructional materials and/or help content that you have created and is in use.
Ability to quickly learn new software functionality and clearly explain it to new users.
Must be able to accurately represent customer requirements by using excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Comfortable being a part of a software help desk that takes calls from end users and finding a satisfactory, efficient resolutions to questions.
Server/client sw installation and testing experience.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and use of computers in the manufacturing area.
Able to work in an operational environment where priorities change frequently.
Proficient at gathering and interpreting relevant data and information for end-users.
Must have experience with both windows and unix/linux operating systems.
Preferred qualifications (some required for higher pay grades):
Experience working dita and delivering content in various outputs.
Experience teaching technical content both web-based and instructor led.
Experience working with a software development team and supporting the team with id testing, end-user interface representation, consistent end-user design support, and creative delivery of written content through help systems, release notes, and instructional design.
Ability to manage documentation revisions.
Ability to understand engineering configuration management rules and applying them to esi data requirements.
Experienced with supporting customers using software.
Exposure to web-based software development or operations.
Have a broad understanding of software development and customer support.
Experience deploying software and updates across an organization.
Strong technical foundation in several of the following technologies:
Jira administrative experience desired and scrum development methodologies
Jira software and scrum development methodologies
Oxygen and dita documentation
Microsoft power bi
Sql query experience.
Experience with manual and/or automated software testing.
Knowledge of siemens teamcenter unified (tcua).
Experience with delivery of adhoc reports for system users.
Knowledge of siemens teamcenter enterprise (epic).
Exposure to ar technologies.
Software analysis and business process analysis experience.
Salary range: $71,100 usd - $106,700 usd salary range 2: $87,600 usd - $131,400 usd
