The national marine manufacturers association (nmma), the leading trade organization for the u.sAnd canadian recreational boating industry is seeking a nimble, highly motivated social media manager to shape, implement and manage our year-round content strategy across our consumer-facing discover boating brandThis position will report to the director of content marketing and is either remote or based in our chicago officeThe social media manager will have a highly visible role helping the team welcome more people to experience the physical and emotional benefits of boating and life on the water.

Member owned and driven; the nmma team manages an annual budget of $50mAs part of this work, nmma runs the industrys consumer-facing discover boating initiative (discoverboating.com), which has an annual campaign budget between $5-7m and attracts 4-5 million potential boat buyers to discoverboating.comAdditionally, discover boating consumer boat shows attract 500k attendees to its 14 events each year, with an annual marketing and communications budget between $3-4m.

Essential duties & responsibilies*
Social content creation and management
Develop social media strategies for facebook, instagram, twitter, tiktok, youtube, pinterest, as well as emerging social media platforms.
Collaborate closely with pr, content and creative to develop and run social media content calendars across the highly visible consumer-facing discover boating brand and its 14 boat shows.
Build outstanding, attention-generating social media content, including but not limited to, feed posts, interactive stories, videos, photos, social imagery, post copy and more.
Identify emerging channel trends (content formats and subject matter), as well as the ability to spot national and local newsworthy- or news jacking-opportunities to insert our brands into the conversation in a positive, relevant manner.
Work closely with the public relations team to provide strategic direction and execution for the social media influencer program.
Proactively provide counsel to the entire marcom department on social media recommendations for both paid and organic standard methodologies for implementation.
Handle the day-to-day paid components of our consumer social platforms alongside the paid media team.
Maintain deep understanding of social media metrics, data analysis and ownership of audience touchpoints, and tailor campaigns to target specific audiences or segments.
Lead the consumer journey across social media and the connection to and from these channels to discover boatings owned assets and digital marketing programs (websites, email, retargeting, etc.)
Outline measurable strategies and clear critical metrics to meet varying strategic objectives - encouraging content engagement and/or website traffic, growing our follower base, increasing brand awareness, driving interest towards stakeholder brands and product discovery within discover boating and both the in-person and digital boat show experiences.
Community management and engagement
Lead and engage with the discover boating brand community across our social channels, helping them become passionate advocates for the boating lifestyle.
Continuously monitor, engage in and report on active social listeningboth within our owned social media channels and externally.
Respond to comments and messages addressing concerns and ensuring a positive brand experience.
Consistently be the voice of the brand during consumer exchanges via comments, messages or chat.
Willing to go live or appear on-camera for reoccurring digital events (facebook live, instagram live, igtv), live event coverage, and influencer, sponsor or brand partnership opportunities.
Lead other ad-hoc projects and communication-related tasks across social channels.

In a crisis, you provide valuable insight on the pulse of the consumer and work in sync with the pr team to put forward messaging that supports our mission and core values.

5+ years relevant professional experience in developing and executing social strategy, social media management, social media planning, influencer marketing.
You have strong video, photo and editing skills and experience.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills - ability to collect and use various data points to develop and measure social media success.
Experience working for a major consumer lifestyle brand.
Experience with facebook business manager, facebook creator studio, instagram branded content and business partners, youtube studio, sprout social.
Excellent copywriting skills, with strong attention to detail and adherence to brand guidelines and tone of voice.
Have a passion and desire to engage on social media in real-time.
Ability to partner cross-functionally and work with a wide range of partners.
Consistent record of delivering high quality social media campaigns and community management in very dynamic environments.
Availability to travel to boat shows, dealer or manufacturer events, industry tradeshows, photo shoots, video shoots, etc.
Intermediate skill level in adobe creative suite, including photoshop and illustrator, various video editing software, or canva.
An outdoor enthusiast with passion and interest in recreational boating, watersports, sailing, life on the water, and the great outdoors in general.
