What you’ll do
Ndwa labs is seeking talented writers with journalism experience to write news articles in spanish on a part-time contractor basis for la alianza, a digital news service for domestic workers with more than 200k subscribers.
As a newswriter, you will be responsible for pitching, researching, and writing original content in the form of news articles about current events and timely information relevant to our audience.
Pitch, research, write, and edit original news articles with a journalistic tone and style (with open-source images included in each article)
Ensure all citations are complete, thorough, and factually accurate
Write articles in latin-american style spanish prose free of grammar and spelling errors
Participate in pre-arranged phone or video meetings as needed (monday through friday, during normal business hours)
Complete other writing projects as needed
Skills and experience we’re after
Bilingual in spanish and english with experience writing for publication in spanish
Journalism experience in digital media environmentYou’ve previously written news stories for other digital media companies and you know how to efficiently research and write high-quality news stories with a journalistic tone.
Strong virtual communicationYou have availability to communicate with our staff as needed via email and slack and participate in pre-arranged phone or video meetings each week (monday through friday, during normal business hours).
Understanding of issues facing low-wage workers, immigrant communities, and other communities of color
Commitment to social justiceYou have demonstrated a commitment to social justice and progressive social change through your community experience, work positions, or volunteer roles, and you want to be part of a team of people who share this commitment.

$.40/word: pitching, researching, writing, and editing 5-15 original news articles per week with a journalistic tone and style (with open-source images included in each article)
$30 per hour: completing other writing projects
$30 per hour: participating in pre-arranged phone or video meetings each week
