Full job description
We are hiring an optical systems engineer to be part of a dynamic research and development team engaged in innovation for dimensional metrology products and technologies.
What you will do
Engage in development of custom metrology systems with optical sensors from first-principle physics analysis through detailed engineering studies and validation testing
Directly work with customers to understand system and component level requirements and specifications and design metrology and inspection solutions meeting customers’ requirements
Contribute expertise to a variety of optical and electromagnetic topics related to metrology solutions development
Work in cross-disciplinary teams with electrical, mechanical, and system engineers as well as algorithm and software developers
Provide system-level analysis of sensor and optical microscope prototypes and their product targets
Conduct detailed numerical simulations, using industry-standard tools, such as zemax and comsol
Design, develop, and operate laboratory test systems for testing product prototypes
What you need to be successful
Able to simulate the performance of measurement systems using theoretical and computational methods.
Strong working knowledge of numerical analysis using tools like matlab, python, or mathematica.
Experience with industry-standard simulation software, such as zemax or comsol.
Laboratory experience with contact or non-contact metrology systems, positioning platforms, cameras, light sources, fiber optics, data acquisition hardware and software, such as labview, python, or matlab.
Bs (or higher degree) in in physics, optical engineering, or in a related field
