The azure platform architecture team is looking for a senior platform architect to focus on immersion cooled platforms and systemsThis individual will partner with azure teams from research, development, and data center to bring immersion cooled platforms to volume productionThis requires working across multiple engineering disciplines including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and serviceability to identify and solve the challenges of immersion cooling at scaleThis individual will help define the solution space, and shape both the server and immersion tank solutions.

Position is open to remote candidates
Responsibilities
Lead the platform architecture for immersion cooled server platforms, balancing the requirements for the business with available technologies and design capabilities
Distill and articulate architectural tradeoffs encompassing electrical, mechanical, and thermal inputs in terms of key metrics such as cost, risk, performance, and schedule
Create and articulate detailed tco models to enable data-driven decisions as the team evaluates potential solutions
Partner with the engineering groups and planning organizations to understand how the solution space is evolving over time, and drive architectures and platform designs that can scale multiple generations
Drive and influence technology providers and design partners towards optimal components and solutions to meet the future requirements for azure
Partner within the industry to create standards and form factors key to next generation solutions.
Create architecture specifications for both platforms and key design components
Collaborate with the hardware development team to ensure seamless transition from architecture to full scale development
Qualifications
B.sDegree in electrical or computer engineering or equivalent experience
6+ years of compute, server, or storage design experience.
Ability to analyze architecture solutions from a full tco perspective including but not limited to cogs, capex, power, other system cost constraints
Preerred qualifications:
Platform level architectural expertise highly desired
Experience with immersion cooling technologies
Understanding of datacenter deployment process and capabilities
Pcba design experience including schematic, layout, routing, and stackup analysis
Strong communication skills to influence and partner across many facets of the azure hardware and engineering teams
