General summary
Reporting to the operations director of specialty pharmacy, the business analyst, specialty pharmacy is part of the mass general brigham specialty pharmacy (mgb sp) administrative teamMgb sp is an llc, operating under the mgb health system supporting the specialty pharmacy needs of all mass general brigham patients.
Our mission is to decrease the administrative burden in our clinics, improve quality and safety through clinical diligence, decrease the patient financial toxicity often associate with these medications, and provide an additional revenue stream for the mass general brigham enterprise to support its broader mission.
Responsibilities of the analyst will include the gathering and management of data required for business operation and planning, financial and operational reporting, accreditation support, periodic reports to pharma companies and insurers, trending operational metrics, and the preparation and tacking of budgets, and day to day support of our operation.
Duties & responsibilities
The specialty pharmacy business analyst will support:
System-level specialty pharmacy financial reporting and revenue integrity
Specialty drug procurement & reimbursement analysis
340b contract pharmacy reporting
Oversight of daily financial operations and audits
Specialty pharmacy financial, cash posting, accounts receivable, and revenue cycle activities
Opportunities to maximize reimbursement in compliance with regulatory standards
Assists with the preparation of the annual operating budget
Frequent internal ad-hoc data and analytic requests
Leverage exceptional analytical and communication skills, and will apply your broad knowledge of pharmacy practice to help our team achieve performance objectives
Research – utilize targeted searches of the internet and other available sources to conduct primary and secondary research on topics of interest in the field of healthcare reimbursement and compliance if needed
Analysis - evaluate the data collected through task analysis of business processes utilizing source data from our systems which include epic, enterprise rx, dromos ptm, cover-my medsEtc.
Validation – collect and analyze requirements and coordinate the assembly of the final deliverable with the primary stakeholder.
Accuracy – utilize up-to-date sources to confirm and validate the task requirements as assigned and the accuracy of the deliverable.
Communication – communicate effectively through oral and written mediums with internal teams
Team participation – collaborate as part of a functional work team to execute against project requirements.
Adaptability –be flexible in work schedule as project duties require and manage any change requests related to the working project plans daily to meet the agreed-upon deadlines.
Information management – maintain the security of the sensitive company and client information at all times.
This position requires full-time onsite trainingAfter the training period, the role is hybrid, with a combination of onsite work in burlington, ma, and remote work, due to business needs#li-hybrid
Qualifications
Required:
B.sIn pharmacy or pharmd required
Minimum five (5) years of data/reporting experience in the pharmacy industry required
High-level expertise in microsoft office suites required
Preferred:
Master’s degree in business, finance, informatics, and/or related field
Four (4) or more years of analytic experience in healthcare or pharmacy
Working knowledge of pharmacy and billing and claims processing
Knowledge of 340b drug discount program
Minimum three (3) years’ experience and advanced knowledge of either sql (including sql studio, ssis, ssrs, ssas, powerbi, and asure) and/or r, and python
Skills/competencies
Strong analytical skills
Attention to detail and organization,
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, including a strong customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Ability to interact professionally with organization contacts
Strong acumen in establishing and monitoring financial and operational performance measures
Knowledge of pharmacy billing and reimbursement; experience with 340b and medicare part b a plus.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently
