Full job description
The school of professional studies seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach biology ii online in a self-paced format beginning at various points throughout the yearInstructors will deliver a pre-developed course, adding their subject matter expertise and real-world examples to developed contentInstructors will play an important role in the continuous improvement and overall success of the course.
The instructor should be comfortable teaching online and in a self-paced format with students progressing at varying rates through the material.
Deliver instruction in an online, self-paced format
Support incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparities.
Uses the university’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students
Advises and assists students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone or email, and through other university-approved mechanisms
Provides service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment
Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor
Required:
Bachelor’s degree requiredAdvanced degree in subject area or related field preferred.
Previous experience teaching online courses to undergraduate or graduate students entering health professions
Commitment to student success and the ability to engage and motivate students in an online format
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents)
Experience with a learning management system, such as blackboard
