Our auto product analytics team within liberty mutual`s global risk solutions is seeking a product sr analyst / consultant to join their growing and highly visible groupAs a srAnalyst / consultant on our global risk solutions north america product analytics team, you will help us understand our auto commercial underwriting strategy and operation at a new level of depth to propel our underwriting strategy forward! you will use quantitative and analytical methodologies to improve our risk selection and segmentation approach as well as the operational performance of our auto productYou will be responsible for robust insights and analysis supporting our underwriting strategic direction and decisions to generate top-quartile industry profitability on our portfolio, while positioning it for profitable long-term growthYou will report to the director of grs na product intelligence team and will use advanced analytical techniques and partnership with the field to develop recommendations on how to optimize our auto product.
Our industry is in the midst of a data & product sophistication arms raceOne that will determine which companies win disproportionate profits, and which will exit the marketThe commercial auto line can`t possibly support the 243 insurers in the market todayIntense competition, not to mention unfavorable economic trends, is already dividing the competitionLiberty mutual is the 4th largest writer of commercial auto in the us, and strongly invested in the lineNot only is it critical to liberty`s near-term profits, but it is also as a strategically significant line given the rapid advances in vehicle technology and its centrality to our customer`s operations.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain innovative monitoring of our underwriting results, helping us understand key drivers in our book profile, mix-shift and quality trends and highlighting opportunities for improvement
Develop and maintain analysis of our operational effectiveness and efficiency, highlighting areas where we can improve and suggesting approaches to get there
Develop low-effort mechanisms to monitor performance of initiatives and underwriting operations, flagging metrics that fall out of specified tolerances for investigation
Leverage scenario testing and other economic analyses to vet and prioritize initiatives
Develop and deliver presentations to communicate technical ideas and analytical findings to non-technical peers and partners, including executive leadership

Auto product experience within insurance industry required
Bachelor`s degree in a quantitative field (example: economics, math, statistics, operations research, actuarial sciences, finance, etc.)
Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience in analytical, quantitative risk-management or related field is required for senior product analyst level.
Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in analytical, quantitative risk-management or related field is required; advanced education may be substituted for years of experience for product consultant level.
Proficiency with excel and powerpoint required
Track record as a team player who looks for opportunities to collaborate and mentor
Ability to identify themes and trends from large data sets
Ability to synthesize analysis into stories for an executive audience
Experience using sql/sas, r, python or similar statistical packages strongly preferred
Understanding of statistical methods and/or insurance products/pricing/processes preferred
