Job description:
Design complex land mobile radio system solutions that satisfy specific customer requirementsSystems involve harris and vendor equipment, and typically include ip networks, microwave links, wireless data, rf antenna subsystems, 911 dispatch and/or other custom designed subsystemsPerform site visits and analyze existing customer technical assets.
Craft high quality proposal text and drawings that clearly and effectively describe the technical solutions being offeredParticipate in discussions and presentations with customers, consultants, vendors and other harris personnel as necessary to advance projectsFormally present technical solutions and product information to customers, professional organizations, and consultant groups for the designs developed through the proposal process.
Coordinate technical transition of design to implementation system engineer after contract is awarded.
Basic qualifications:
Bsee degree with 5+years of technical experience in telecommunication systems design involving lmr communications systems (p25, tetra, dmr, microwave and lte)
Public safety grade mobile voice and data networksKnowledge of integrated command and control dispatch consoles, computer aided dispatch (cad).
Overall knowledge of public safety mobile broadband networks and devices (lte).
Preferred qualifications:
Strong general knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures - both public and private (e.gApco p25, dmr, tetra, lte, 802.11, 3g/4g) is highly desirable.
Experience in design of ip networks, rf antenna systems, two-way radio systems, microwave systems, wireless data systems, data networking, as well as system configuration is desired.
Complete knowledge of rf coverage predictions, including coverage analysis, frequency reuse, traffic/capacity modeling.
Demonstrated strong communications skillsStrong written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences in english (any additional language is a plus).
Should possess excellent interpersonal skills and have demonstrated the capacity to effectively foster team building within and beyond his/her work group.
Should possess shared harris values of integrity, teamwork, excellence, and accountability.
