About the role:
As a value engineer (ve) you will be responsible for managing projects, crafting innovative solutions, and/or modifying existing products to support running changes, tcp (total cost of production), cost of quality, and va/ve (value added / value engineering) projectsThis person will work closely with the ve team, sourcing, quality, and product management, as well as suppliers to develop and launch or revise existing lighting fixtures / systems.
As a member of the team, you will report directly to the category lead engineer and will work with other members of this team to maintain and/or continuously improve the overall value of product designs.
What you will do:
Review products / develop ideation for cost out opportunities to support corporate tcp and va/ve targets.
Lead technical aspect of projects from concept to launchThis includes product specifications, risk assessment and abatement, detailed design reviews, process capability, prototyping and feasibility, design validation testing, safety approvals, and production implementation while meeting the product requirements, timing expectations, and cost targets.
Update and/or review engineering documentation to meet kichler standards and support supplier project development.
Support safety and performance compliance to meet third party certification (e.g., ul, etl, energy star, t-24, fcc, etc.)
Prepare, review, and approve engineering change orders.
Maintain current knowledge of new and emerging lighting technologies as well as the electrical engineering field.
Provide technical advice and assistance to peers, suppliers and customers regarding design, material specifications, testing procedures, and product quality.
What we look for in a candidate:
Engineering degree from accredited institution (mechanical or electrical engineer preferred)
0 - 7 years professional engineering experience
Experience in consumer product design, decorative fixture design, electro-mechanical product design, and/or led lighting
Strong mechanical proficiency
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Hard-working and able to work under general project direction
Background in 3d cad required, onshape a plus
Solid understanding of manufacturing and fabrication methods and design for manufacturability experience preferred
Nightly/early morning calls required to collaborate with global team and suppliers
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (<10%)
Excellent digital literacy with the ability to work in microsoft environment
Min range: $58,730.00 usd annual
Mid range: $83,900.00 usd annual
Max range: $109,070.00 usd annual
