Location: newport news, virginia, united states date: nov 24, 2021 job description submarine fleet support work control engineering technician (mechanical) that develops, reviews, and revises as required the execution of navy work authorization forms (wafs) and safety tagout documents and specifications to support efficient work executionEnsure training and qualification on all work control and tagout processes is obtained and maintainedApproves issuance of wafs, work permits, and safety tagouts for assigned systemsProvides expertise in the development, planning, and scheduling for wafs, work permits, and safety tagoutProvides on-site resolution of related problems and technical issues to prevent delays and ensure the integrity, safe work and testing, and operation of responsible areas of controlThorough knowledge of navsea 0905-485-6010 submarine 6010 requirements, submarine fly-by-wire ship control system certification boundary book, the submarine certification boundary book, joint fleet maintenance manual, and the tag-out users manual.
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasksGathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changesProduces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics)Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical dataUses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reportsMay conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysisBasic qualifications associate`s degree and 3 years of experience2 years of related experience can be substituted for associate`s degree4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for associate`s degreeAn apprentice certificate or graduation from navy nuclear power school can be substituted for associate`s degreeReq id: 13144 department: e25 test engineering entity: nn shipbuilding (0265) travel required: yes, 10%-25% of the time shift: 1st relocation: no relocation assistance available education: high school diploma/ged virtual/telework opportunity: yes-may consider occasional/part-time teleworking for this position us citizenship required for this position: yes clearance type: yes - interim clearance required to start
