Hitachi energy is seeking a packaging engineer to support multiple transformer factories in the north america regionThis position can be home-based (remote) and will require up to 25% travelThis role is responsible for identifying and managing projects related to packaging optimization for incoming and outgoing products, as well as developing processes and documentation related to packaging requirements.
Your responsibilities
Oversee and manage complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, performance testing, and specification development
Coordinate with hub supplier quality and development engineers to troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions
Evaluate engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging
Evaluate and select packaging suppliers/vendors; periodically conduct vendor reviews with, coordinating with hub supplier quality and development team
Work closely with global suppliers, engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing.
Participate in product introduction teams, to deliver new products to market.
Work closely with engineering to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements
Your background
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 8 or more years of relevant experience
Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for hitachi energy in the united states
Packaging or mechanical engineering degree, along with experience with managing packaging related projects and process development preferred
Experience with executing and delivering cost out projects and savings a plus
Yellow or green belt with exposure to lean manufacturing concepts a plus
Experience working in projects using apqp (advanced product quality planning) methodology a plus
