The opportunity: (brief overview of the role)
Strategic sourcing manager (ssm/lead) provides support to the head of procurement and/or head of different business functions/users across all of their areas of responsibilityStrategic sourcing manager delivers and contributes to policies, processes, procedures, and tools for their implementation and management in sps, working with global businesses/functions such as information technology, finance, hr, business management/cao where required.
What you’ll do: (list out key responsibilities)
Strategic sourcing manager (ssm/lead) will manage and lead in-country team in the delivery of projects allocated by procurement operations to achieve or exceed savings targets for each project assignedThe lead will drive the right business outcomes with advanced subject matter expertise during the execution of projects and will support the local business in ensuring that the outputs of sourcing projects are embedded in the business to drive value through the contract lifecycle
Lead will be responsible for category planning and will assist the head of procurement in monitoring local/global market conditions and keep category management updated of emerging opportunities or changes.
Ensure maximum contractual protection for the business, taking into account procurement policy requirements and local regulatory issues.
With operations implement the appropriate buying channel and supplier management approach for all projects assigned.
The role will ensure that businesses have operational accountability for contracts after signature/handover and lead will drive appropriate deployment of the supplier relationship management framework along with businesses
In the execution of sourcing projects, instill a responsive but strategic service and delivery culture, which makes business stakeholders value the procurement.
Lead and support category management as required in the development and review of robust, forward-looking category plans based on business and product needs, supply market dynamics, and technological changes in marketplace.
Support supplier management & compliance to classify new suppliers to determine the most appropriate supplier relationship management treatment and collaborate to manage supplier relationships.
Achieve or exceed agreed savings target for each sourcing projectMonitor the status of all sourcing projects allocated to the team members, and drive corrective action to ensure savings targets are achieved or exceeded.
Lead negotiation and agreement of terms and conditions for category strategic contractsSupport negotiation and agreement of terms and conditions for major and/or complex high value contracts
Manage all strategic sourcing initiatives to a robust plan, in alignment with business milestones.
Primary responsible for it enterprise services, telecom, human resource, marketing and communication categories.
Requirements
What you will need to succeed in the role: (minimum qualification and skills required)
Post graduate with 15 years’ experience of strategic sourcing in defined categories.
Knowledge & experience
Should be post graduate, with procurement (sourcing/buying) background and proven ability in supplier management, due diligence, commercial negotiations, team management and contract negotiation.
Strong awareness and understanding of internal controls and risk environmentDemonstrated results in risk management and implementing operational controls.
Strong knowledge of hsbc procurement/legal fims, control operating effectiveness and design effectiveness, conduct, ab&c, sanctions, procurement projects lifecycle, etc.
Skills
High level of personal drive and motivation to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously across hsbc
Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with stakeholders
Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in simple language to support problem analysis
Strong interpersonal, commercial negotiation and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the group
Proven abilities in working across cultures
Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with ability to build relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating effectively at all levels across the organization
