The lutheran center (national office) is located in chicago, illinoisA staff of 400, under the leadership of the presiding bishop, serve as administrators, advisors, conveners, partners, and resource people for the elca and its ministriesStaff lead the work of national, domestic, and global ministries and programs including lutheran disaster response, elca world hunger, service & justice, christian community and leadership, and innovationWe are also home to five of our separately incorporated ministries: the mission investment fund of the elca, women of the elca, lutheran men in mission, the elca foundation and the elca federal credit union.

The innovation home area seeks to be a space for the church to generate ideas, unleash creativity and create positive change in the world god so lovesIt champions and drives 1) organizational change and innovation culture; 2) the development of new and useful things and 3) the co-creators to get the work done.
With guidance from and in close collaboration with the director, innovation services, this position supports and powers the team’s service deliverables and enables home area effectivenessThis position works both internally and with external partnersThis position will contribute to overall group alignment of processes and engagement strategy, especially including team communication (internal and external), resource-related processes (human and financial) and general team development support.
This is a full-time, regular position.
1Contributes to the development and delivery of the innovation home area’s engagement strategy and customer experience that delights, encourages andchallenges all who interact with the innovation home areaResponsible for engagement logs, customer service processes and event-delivery excellence.
2Owns the final delivery and updates of team collateral and content, including communication (e.g., correspondence, social media, etc.), granting and resources.
3Enables and cultivates the team’s highly collaborative agile project and experimentation model, within the innovation home area and throughout the organization and church on projects as assigned by leading group project coordination, timelines, reporting processes and scheduling (exTeam meetings, team goals and strategy).
4Other projects, collaborations and duties as assigned.

Travel: some travelPosition requires some domestic travel, occasionally overnight by plane or car.
3+ years’ experience on a high-performing customer engagement or service team, project management experience preferredKnowledge and experience in innovation and design-thinking (including equity-centered design) theory and practice, event and volunteer/people management, a plus.
Proven experience implementing project management best practices, customer service delivery and event design, production and evaluation working with a variety of stakeholders to build and deliver excellent team processes in a complex organizational setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills: the ability to attract and work collegially and collaboratively with a diverse population both inside and outside of the workplace to present, motivate, communicate, and engage a wide variety of audiences effectively both verbally and in written form.
Self-directed, self-motivated intuitive team player focused on closing the gap between ideas and implementation with comfortability utilizing and introducing virtual and technological tools.
Experience using microsoft office suite.
