Eaton’s electrical critical power & digital infrastructure division is currently seeking a lead engineer – embedded firmware to join our teamThis position is based at our raleigh, nc facility or can be based remotelyAll candidates must currently reside within the united states and must work out of a united states remote locationRelocation benefits will be provided for those interested within the united states only.
The lead engineer - embedded firmware is responsible for leading global teams to develop embedded firmware for cpdi technology development projects and power conversion productsThe lead engineer will also develop portions of the firmwareProjects include developing firmware for proof-of-concept technology demonstrators, new products, new features, product enhancements and bug fixes.

In this function you will:
Lead firmware development for technology development projects and new product development projects (uninterruptible power supplies, energy storage, and other cpdi products) while meeting schedule, cost, and product performance goals.
Lead global engineering teams in the development, test and release of embedded firmware for cpdi product lines.
Develop overall firmware architecture and requirements for technology development and new product development projects.
Architect new features and develop requirementsWrite and maintain functional specifications of design solutions.
Create project plans, work breakdown structure, schedule estimates for upcoming firmware projects while managing ambiguity.
Monitor the activities on the firmware development and adapt plans to meet the schedule.
Interface closely with cross-functional team members.
Lead process improvement initiativesWork with cross-functional team to implement new processes.
Analyze, design, code and test software used in uninterruptible power systems and other power quality products.
Develop firmware that meets coding standards and product design requirementsDocument and formally release embedded software following company procedures.
Develop test plans and monitor test results.
Perform firmware design reviews for other members of the team.
Apply best engineering practices and decision making for advanced technical problem solving.

Qualifications
Required (basic) qualifications:
Bachelor`s degree in electrical or related engineering degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of five (5) years industry work experience in firmware development or
Master`s degree in electrical or related engineering degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of three (3) years industry work experience in firmware development or
Ph.dIn electrical or related engineering degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of one (1) year industry work experience in firmware development.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience creating a ground-up firmware architecture design.
Experience with model-based state machine design.
Knowledge of embedded linux.
Knowledge of modern software development processes.
Design experience with ups and/or power electronic products for high reliability.
Experience in design of complex state machines and closed loop controls.
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot analog and digital control circuitry.
Experience leading a cross-functional, world-wide development project.
Position success criteria:
Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge and experience embedded firmware development consisting of state machines, control algorithms and user interfaces.
Extensive experience in c/c++.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of power systems.
Ability to work lab environment around high voltage where safety awareness is critical.
Ability to read schematics and interpret the behavior of electronic systems.
Ability to lead global firmware teams.
Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications.
Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements.
