Financial planning and analysis (fp&a) tower is part of global business operations and provides oversight on financial activities and controls including general accounting, management and external reporting and financial planning and analysisThe tower is responsible for the interpretation of financial and statutory data, the coordination and management of financial and statutory reporting, the management of the p&l and balance sheet delivering solutions that will increase insight and transparencyTower responsibilities also include ensuring there is a true and fair representation of business performance at the cut-off point for the period and transparency on financials and esg kpis for business performance management
North america is the biggest market within diageo with gbp 5.8 billion revenue and gbp 2.2 billion of operating profitSystem landscape and way of selling is also unique within diageo.
Purpose of role:
The vp fp&a north america is responsible for managing and executing the performance management agenda through development of a robust annual plan, reinforced by a monthly rhythm of analysis to deliver timely information and insight to enable the organisation to make high quality decisions which drive peer group leading performanceThe role also includes full responsibility to account for, track and manage the north america market’s advertisement & promotions budget, through close interaction with the marketing and commercial teamsThe fp&a leads a team of 25+ fp&a professionals for different divisions within north america region through people managers.
Regular functional & operational engagement with fp&a directors, vp and cfo and other cross-functional departments & leaders of the organization will be an integral part of this role.
Leadership responsibilities/ key stakeholders:
Critical finance capabilities:
Robust functional knowledge about fp&a processes to suggest fundamental and dynamic ways of interpreting the data
Working knowledge of advertisement & promotions accounting and analysis of effective spend and tracking of the allocated budget
Strong collaboration with different departments to create value adding insights
Support decision making - ability to understand the levers to drive efficient growth & make the right business decision based on data, analysis and the wider business context.
Coach & guide fp&a team to achieve business results and build capabilities.
Systems tools & technologies - ability to implement world class tools & the latest technologies to execute processes and analyse data.
Finance processes - ability to understand and execute relevant finance processes and drive simplification/automation agenda
Key stakeholders to manage:
Vice presidents, directors & managers of different business units (commercial, supply, marketing etc) - collaborate on execution of bpm processes and building bpm capability as well as esg reporting
Finance business partners – collaboration on design and delivery of global bpm operating model.
Governance & change – leading delivery of change initiatives / improvements
Hr - collaboration to harness the full extent of diageo`s talent and diversity
Operate the business performance management process
Develop an efficient and effective planning process
Implement globally standard
Quantify opportunities and risks and help develop contingency plans.
Use analytics to go beyond the numbers, using a variety of data sets to drive insights
Provide business leadership & direction
Leverage data to deliver insights for the north america market
Actively engage and drive for business outcomes with stakeholders across corporate
Make a difference to the business as a member of the fp&a lt
Keep up to date with external trends and practices
Develop a high performing, motivated team across a wide range of roles

Prioritisation of crucial risk and action plans to manage compliance and controls issues for in-scope activities
Qualifications and experience required
Ca/cma/mba (tier 2 schools), bachelor’s in finance/marketing/business required
At least 18-20 years working experience within management reporting, business controlling, fp&a area at a multinational environment
Proven ability to impact and influence, at a senior stakeholder level, virtually across markets with solid networking, influencing & communication skills.
Excellent written/verbal english knowledge
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Hard working personality, flexibility, inquisitiveness, proactivity
Experience with sap fi /co modules, data warehouse, advanced analytics and data visualization tools
Has experience in managing large, potentially diverse teams of managers and/or senior professionals
