Position title: lab technician – part time 16-20 hours weekly
Department: urology – andrology/hormone assay
Reports to: director of andrology services
Under general supervision of drT shah, carries out laboratory tests
With accuracy and precisionPosition
Will require technical skills, analytical ability, experience with computers
And database, statistical application and analysis, and the ability to work
The andrology tech obtains or receives specimens, performs clinical
Laboratory tests by standardized procedures, performs quality control and
Quality assurance procedures, performs preventative maintenance and interprets
Results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits.
Manages the labIncluding ordering and maintaining inventory of
Supplies, interacting with vendors, maintains records of purchases, performs
Quality procedures critical for patient sample testing, maintain cultures,
Maintain freezer and tissues, adhere to policies and procedures, perform
Routine lab survey’s and basic cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
Preparing patient’s medical record prior to patient visit
Train and monitor students on lab procedures.
Provide financial information to patients related to laboratory services
Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit
From laboratory/ clinic servicesConveys a positive image of the clinic.
Jobholder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job
All other duties as assigned.
A bs in biology or biomedical field or equivalent
At least 2 years of andrology and/or art experience required.
Experience in andology is preferred but not required
Proven ability to successfully perform andrology lab testing.
Hands-on experience and training in lab quality control and quality
Assurance preferred but not required.
Must be self-motivated, have ability to take instruction and correction
To follow direction, good organization skills, the ability to work
Experience with microsoft office, excel, access, etc.
Will require analytical ability, experience with computers and
Database, statistical applications and analysis.
One year work experience, preferably in health care.
