Summary: this position is located in the office of inspector general (oig), office of the executive director (ex), office of information technology (it) operations, u.sDepartment of state (department)The it specialist position is established to analyze/perform work necessary to secure, plan, design, develop, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, or modify systems for solving problems or accomplishing work processes by using it systems.
Provides full lifecycle support for all deployed systems/applications and new technologies on multiple networks and in cloud environments.
Implements information security protections commensurate with the risk of potential harm resulting from unauthorized access of information systems.
Develops requirements for system improvements in server administration and lifecycle management of systems and applications.
Provides excellent customer support for internal and external customers and final resolution for datacenter related matters.
Creates and maintain documentation related to federal government laws and regulations to keep systems and networks properly accredited.

Applicants applying for the gs-13 grade level must meet the following requirements: have it-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies and specialized experience listed below:
Attention to detail - demonstrates expert level of attention to detail in conducting security risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed systems to identify security issues and vulnerabilities.
Customer service - demonstrates expert skill in working with managers and customers at all levels throughout the bureau and department to resolve it security issues,
Oral communication - provides expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical it issues.
Problem solving - demonstrates expert knowledge of it security requirements and standards to review and resolve complex it security risks and vulnerabilities.
And have at least full year of specialized experience equivalent to the gs-12 level in the federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying knowledge of advanced it principles and methods to ensure efficient delivery of it security services.
Experience planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware and operating systems and applications software.
Experience reviewing proposed systems and networks for potential security risks.
Note: in order to qualify for this position, your experience must be it related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, it certification), as appropriate.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the gs-13 position.
