The coresight research team, based in new york, london, hong kong, and india is a think tank that follows emerging retail and tech trends, specializing in the ways retail and technology intersect, and builds collaborative communitiesThe team, led by deborah weinswig, an award-winning retail and technology analyst, delivers cutting-edge research on topics such as the evolving retail landscape, changing consumer behavior, disruptive retail technologies and the future of supply chains in sectors such as apparel, beauty, grocery and furnitureMore information can be found at coresight.com.
Based in india: and reporting directly into a senior research analyst, the research analyst[mb1] will perform research activities in specific areas and produce written reports and other research products on early-stage companies, sectors and themes in retail and technology.
Undertaking company-profile-focused research on emerging technology and retail-tech-focused startups
Building thematic landscapes of retail-tech startups under an umbrella theme/technology
Researching and writing retail-technology-related reports
Assisting with/undertaking custom projects, including survey-based projects, for clients
Analyzing and presenting data in verbal and visual form
Drafting analyses, research reports and presentations of various lengths
Responding to ad hoc research requests
Tracking, following and summarizing industry and company news
Collecting data from various sources (including databases, public companies and internet searches)
Requirements and qualifications:
Minimum of a ba/bs with strong academic record (business/finance degrees would be a plus)
2+ years of work experience in buy or sell-side research, investment banking, consulting or relevant experience (experience in research is strongly preferred).
Strong interest in retail, business, startups and/or technology
Knowledge of retail-technology companies, trends, and themes
Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
Strong quantitative skills
Fast-learner and self-starter in dynamic, results-driven team
Extremely detail-oriented / self-motivated / strong time management skills
Strong writing and oral communication skills; an experience of business-style writing for publication
Keen interest in retail, consumer brands, and technology
Recent experience within a retail/tech research services firm, a plus
Attention to detail while maintaining a rapid work pace comes easily to you
Capability to drive an independent workstream in the context of a broader team projects
Strong work ethic and a high-level of personal accountability is important to you
Able to work individually, or on a team
Client relationship management skills
Proficient in office applications, including microsoft word, excel and powerpoint

The successful candidate will need to:
Be or become an expert in retail-technology startups:
O develop a strong understanding of emerging retail technology trends and companies.
O keep abreast of global industry news and emerging trends related to retail technology in order to identify topical subjects to research.
O build on existing knowledge to become an industry specialist in retail technology startups and emerging technology.
Devise and write retail-technology-focused research reports and presentationsThis is likely to include writing syndicated reports published on coresight.com for subscription clients, and custom research reports created in partnership with clients/sponsorsThis will include: data-driven analysis of trends and themes in retail technology, assessment of trends across retail sectors and consumer behavior, profiling companies, and custom/ad-hoc queriesThe research process will involve use of various sources including databases, public company documents and internet searches.
Assist in the drafting and creation of surveys, and in synthesizing survey results for insights.
Collaborate with internal research team to develop clear understanding of a client’s mission critical priorities when working on custom client research.
A successful candidate will have both strong interpersonal and research (qualitative and quantitative) skills.
