The community relations manager will join our clarion events energy team and be responsible for nurturing and developing relationships with decision makers from our key audience segment, electric utilitiesThis position is on the frontline of communications, understanding customers’ needs and securing their participation in our events (live and digital).
Clarion’s energy portfolio of event brands include industry leaders: powergen international, distributech international and hydrovision internationalAdditionally, clarion produces leading content through four robust digital media brands including power engineering, powergrid international, renewable energy world and hydro review.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Research, prospect and develop relationships with key attendee group, electric utilities, for recruitment to in person events and year round community hub (digital platform).
Listen and ask questions to gain a deep understanding of needs and challenges.
Goals will include selling into conference group plans, ensuring participation with vendor meetings, engaging with our digital platform, recruiting as speakers or advisors, and ensuring an overall seamless positive brand experience.
Retain current key accounts by working with customers to find out what they want, create solutions and ensure key account attendance at the event.
Attend in person events as overall point of contact and manage customer experience(3x per year)
Additional travel may be required to industry/association events with the goal of generating leads and establishing additional contacts.
Meet or exceed established yearly revenue targets.
Report on a weekly basis the attendee milestones, industry feedback and progress against the goals.
Nurture existing client relationships in order to drive future business.
Work collaboratively with marketing team regarding campaign messaging and goals to ensure ongoing growth.
Assist in the planning, budgeting and execution of special events and experience onsite and throughout the year as necessary.
Continuously developing market and product knowledge to assist with business development.
Make connections with attendees and exhibitors based on mutual interests in an effort to drive roi and deliver overall business success.

Skills and behaviors
Prefer previous knowledge or experience working with electric utilities or at least interest and willingness to learn about the industry.
Prefer previous work at an association in the power or energy industry or experience within a similar industry(not required)
Experience and comfort dealing with a c-suite audience
Willingness to travel
Demonstrates effective active listening and communication skills
Ability to meet and exceed attendance goals and targets
Good organizational and time management skills
Be able to build trust and credibility amongst our potential customer base
Ability to work on own initiative

Position type/expected hours of work
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per weekDays and hours of work and days are typically monday through friday, 8:30a.mTo 5:30p.m., but will vary based on event/show schedules and business needsThis position is based out of shelton, ct, however, currently full time remote and will consider full time remote candidates.
Travel is expected for this position for assigned events and as required by management.
