Context:
Our team is focused on designing the next generation of electro-mechanical solutions to serve prosumers in their residential storage and solar needsThe successful mechanical product designer will join our r&d team in our richmond, bc location to collaboratively bring high quality and innovative designs from concept to customer.
Job description:
· within a collaborative design team, the successful candidate will proactively create and modify mechanical designs and drawings in creo parametric
· proactively conceptualize product concepts based on market requirements
· support design throughout the engineering process from initial concept to final production release
· validate mechanical components, analyze data, and write test reports
· estimate personal design timelines and provide feedback to project schedules
· use engineering principles to analyze designs for structural integrity, thermal performance, material performance, manufacturability, and serviceability
Requirements:
· exceptional detailed design sense in creation of cad models and drawings of electrical enclosures and hardware design/placement using creo (primary) and solidworks (secondary)
· mechanical design of sheet metal parts, injection molded parts, machined parts, and harnessing for prototype and high-volume production
· sound engineering design methodologies: minimum constraint design, tolerance stack-up analysis, and gd&t coupled with design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, reliability, quality, and cost mentalities
· design and fea simulation experience for structural and thermal management elements
· familiarity with design for regulatory compliance for electro-mechanical products (ul/iec/nec) as well as outdoor and ingress protection design implementations is preferred
· experience in bom creation, eco’s, dfmea, fta, and dvt processes preferred
· undergraduate degree in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering and 5+ years of experience in relevant industry in product design
