The role boats group is looking for a highly-creative, media-savvy communications professional to drive on-going lifestyle / consumer and industry media coverage for boats groupIn this role, you will work closely with the boats group data team, product marketing and various internal teams to place actionable, buzzy boating consumer and lifestyle stories rooted in data in top-tier media outlets, uncover trends and creative storytelling opportunities that leverage culturally relevant moments and manage a roster of boats group spokespeople.

What you’ll do
Develop, drive and execute a comprehensive and strategic media plan to drive consistent national consumer and industry media coverage and regular earned media placements in top-tier media outlets, such as forbes and the wall street journal
Work closely with boats group data and bi teams to uncover consumer-friendly, news-you-can-use tips and story angles from boats group’s database and market research efforts
Leverage journalistic news sense to write high-quality reports, press releases and pitch narratives rooted in data, while maximizing relevant news cycles, boat shopping season storylines, etc.
Work closely with the external pr agency team, boats group bi team, product, and marketing teams to accomplish goals and align work
Advise on lifestyle pr efforts across boats group brands
As necessary, coordinate meet-ups with top-tier media for desksides, brainstorm sessions, spokespeople interviews, etc.
Identify and facilitate boats group pop culture stories and cross-team marketing and product initiatives.
What you should have
5-7 years in consumer pr / media relations, either in-house or at an agency, with increasing responsibility.
Experience in consumer-facing public relations/communications.
An established network of top-tier consumer media contacts and proven success within the national broadcast media landscape.
Experience with media training company spokespeople.
Strong media relation skills, with emphasis on relationships/proven results with broadcast coverage
Superior written and verbal communication skills with a tenancy to drive results
Proficient in excel and familiar with using raw data
Ba/bs in business, english, journalism, communications or related field is preferred
