Position summary: the primary responsibility of the foreclosure prevention counselor is to provide comprehensive housing counseling services to families and/or individuals who are struggling to keep their homeDuties include coordination of all aspects of service delivery to clients; support in the development of an action plan prioritizing tasks; perform budget and credit counseling; assist with mortgage modifications; help identify government programs and options; deliver default prevention orientations; and provide outreach services as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Primary tasks and responsibilities:
Provides direct client services such as intake, financial assessment, referrals, case management, budget counseling, and follow-up.
Advocates for and assists clients securing loan modifications and mortgage assistance.
Assists with the development and implementation of group education such as default prevention workshops.
Maintain comprehensive and confidential client records and statistics in an electronic database in accordance with hud.
Follow and adhere to all aspects of the national industry standards for homeownership education and counseling.
Build, foster and maintain professional collaborations with other agencies and organizations active in obtaining and maintaining homeownership, including but not limited to lenders, realtors, attorneys, governmental housing agencies and local social service agencies.
Attend all mandatory trainings, including hud continuing education courses.
Maintains all paper and electronic records as needed and performs data entry tasks.
Performs other duties as assigned.

· bachelor’s degree with major course work in areas such as economic development, business, real estate, finance, social work or education, and 4 years of related work experience.
· or associates degree with 6 years of related work experience in finance, economic development, social work, or client counseling.

Required certificates and/or licenses:
- the employee must be hud certified or able to pass the hud exam and obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
- vehicle operator’s license with satisfactory driving record that meets insurability standards of bienestar’s insurance carrier is requiredThe employee must maintain the license for the duration of their employment.
Required skills (communication/language; mathematical; computer; etc.):
Ability to gain knowledge of hud policies, procedures, state and federal regulations within 6 months from hire date.
Ability to assemble, analyze and report data and information in a clear, precise, and objective manner.
Ability to read and interpret documents using in english and spanish.
Strong interpersonal, communication, public relations, and interviewing skills.
Ability to effectively communicate and provide services to persons who are from diverse backgrounds and economic groups.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in english and spanish.
Ability to commit to professional ethics and standards.
Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in microsoft office, including word, excel, power point, outlook, and microsoft teams.
Proficient in hud approved client management systems.
Position is sometimes sedentary, but also requires mobility to client and partner sites and office headquarters; dexterity necessary to operate a computer with substantial repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and/or fingers; the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally; the visual acuity to read and prepare/analyze data and figures; ability to express/exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; majority of work performed indoors.
This is a full-time exempt positionEvening and weekend hours will be required for the delivery of the homebuying and financial fitness classesAll positions at bienestar are at will and subject to a three-month probation period and performance evaluations.
