The field engineering technician in utilities performs surveying, inventory and data collection of existing utility poles and attachments to determine joint use requirementsThis role spends the majority of the time in the field(kc metro, midwest regional and other locations possibly).

Performs field data collections utilizing electronic measuring devices, tablet computer, gps, and other electronic devices in order to collect data for input into database software
Performs measurements of various elements including pole dimensions, directional azimuth of all conductors emanating from a pole, heights of all attachments, span lengths of conductors and service drops
Identifies and properly judge the size of all attachments to a pole including equipment, conductors, and cable
Develops a working knowledge of national electrical safety cod (nesc), electric utility constructions standards and telephone, cable, and other communication facilities
Keeps track of computer files and transfer files to the office as needed
May train or provide assistance to less experienced technicians
Possesses an understanding of the osp/isp discipline and its design process, or is willing to learn that discipline through work experience
Uses knowledge to work independently, using good judgment in seeking help/answers to questions from project supervisor when necessary
Shows continued and progressive professional development inside and outside of bhc
Demonstrates a client focus and work to help our clients be successful

Understanding of electric utility construction is a plus
Ability to physically perform fieldwork, requiring working in hot and cold weather while handling equipment
Dependable and reliable, working 10 hours per day, 6 days per week
Local field work is within 3 hours of kc metro, must be available to travel for several weeks (up to 8 weeks) at a time for other projects.
