Salary: 64,800 position summary: the communications specialist will support communications, marketing and membership initiatives at the association of public health laboratories (aphl), the organization representing state, local and territorial laboratories in the united states that are charged with protecting the public’s health.the specialist will write and edit blog posts and other communications materials; curate and create content for aphl social media channels to promote the work of aphl’s members and committees; and contribute to other association projects as assignedThe specialist will also assist with editing, proofing, photo editing and research, and production for all publications including scientific and technical publications for aphl programsDuties & responsibilities: content creation, editing and review
Create and curate new content for aphl’s social media channels, as well as for aphl’s blog and website.
Assist with production of aphl’s newsletters, eupdate and aphl in action, and others as needed.
Assist with editing/proofreading and production of aphl technical publications, as well as the production of lab matters, aphl’s quarterly magazine.
Support the development of evergreen content that can be promoted across aphl’s channels.
Develop and maintain a content promotion calendar, as well as an editorial calendar for social media, aphl blog, website and aphl events.
Promote the work of aphl staff, members and public health partners on social media and other channels.
Support increased demand for aphl-related information during public health emergencies and provide support for media relations as required.
Organize and maintain a searchable image library on the marketing and communications sharepoint page and manage photography requests and files.
