Key accountabilities & responsibilities
In alignment with the organization’s overall external relations strategy, develop a broad range of public affairs and public relations campaigns and programs that are consistent, technically accurate and aligned with association messages and goals.
Build internal and external relationships to stay abreast of standards and projects
Collaborate to identify and manage risks to the profession and develop appropriate, measurable campaigns to respond to and/or mitigate those risks.
Work with external relations team to develop and pitch story angles and association news to top tier business and trade press so the profession’s positive impact is seen and valuedManage and coordinate media interview opportunities for credentialed, approved spokespeople.
Monitor media landscape to anticipatecoverage of the association, its leadership and the profession.
Collaborate with content strategist, external relations team and others to ensure integrated and aligned plans that may include external relations activities such as press releases, pitches, bylines, op-eds, speaking engagements, webcasts, roundtables, etc.
Collaborate with other members of the content strategy and external relations team to align on official positioning, brainstorm ideas, cross pitch, create integrated, omni-channel campaigns and ensure internal/external messaging is consistently aligned.
Manage external relations activities for high-profile association conferences to create positive public relations opportunities and manage any reputational risks.
Recruit, train and counsel spokespeople so they are prepared for media interviews that result in accurate and positive media coverage.

Qualifications - external
Knowledge, skills and abilities required
Strong technical knowledge of:
Accounting and financial reporting standards, including the work of fasb and international standard setters.
Private company, governmental and employee benefit plan audits, including the work of the pcaob and international regulators.
Esg assurance, reporting and standard setting.
Auditor technology and skills, including remote auditing and use of new technologies to enhance, streamline and improve audits.
Risk reporting and internal control framworks.
Expert level knowledge of public relations and communications best practices for issues management campaigns and tactics.
Experience in creating measureable campaigns and breaking down tasks into prioritized, manageable components to achieve organizational and specific project goals.
Deep relationships with us and uk accounting and finance trade and business mediaProven ability to adapt core messaging for media in key verticals (e.g., corporate governance, compliance, esg)
Ability to apply critical thinking to the processes, methods and tools related to managing multiple media and communications channels
Background in applying relevant economic, business and/or profession-wide trends to meet value proposition and campaign goals.
Proven experience identifying and recommending to leaders and peers steps to take advantage of opportunities and address, manage threats.
Experience in developing trust and a positive relationship among a broad base of internal and external relationships.
Knowledge of campaign reporting, dashboard management and public relations and communications tools and techniques that determine roi.
Required experience, qualifications & education
Deep understanding of the accounting profession and broader finance/business environment.
Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in public relations and communications in either an agency or corporate setting, or journalism background; or other related field.
Demonstrated public relations content development and omni-channel campaign planning skills.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, english, journalism or related field.
